Russ Feingold is a statesman and a person who really did act as a representative to his state. I woul think something like a Supreme Court Justice or a Professor at a prestigious university. Do you think raising money would be something Feingold would enjoy doing?

As to Grayson - making outrageous comments will not do the serious work the DNC needs to do.

From a party (not just progressive) perspective. My guess is being able to raise money is the biggest, which I'm assuming is a big reason Dean got it. Is Feingold known for that (it's not rhetorical, I don't know).

Les Aspin was a super policy wonk on the House Armed Services Committee and knew defense policy backwards and forwards. As SecDef, he was completely out of his league.

I am afraid that would happen to Feingold if you put him in an executive position.

Beyond that, he actually listened to people. Mark Brewer, the chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, said that all the state Party chairs admired him because he was so atypical of most DNC chairs - in a good way.
