What if Obama had his meetings or negotiations with the Repubs televised?
Edited on Thu Nov-04-10 03:01 PM by glarius
Does anyone think that is a good idea? Do you think it would expose the real intentions of the Republicans?
As it is, the Repubs keep saying they have good ideas, but don't say what they are.....This way, they would have to show the public what they have to offer.

2. That is one f*ckin' interesting idea.

It would probably make them look awful.

But if Obama comes off looking like a wimp it embarrasses him too.

I bet he doesn't do it...........

3. He won't be a wimp...Remember how he handled himself in front of that roomful of Republicans?
He didn't have anything but his own wit and brains...no teleprompter....and he slayed them!

7. Yes, he has. And the Republicans didn't want to do it again, afterwards, which
indicates that they don't think they come off well in that sort of venue.

Where were you? Jeebus, memories are short around this place.

Obama slayed them, and they'll never agree to it again.

11. But haven't some of them decried "back-room dealing"? Pretty sure they did,
with regards to the health care debate. Let's use that against them. The President is willing to compromise and thinks the people's business should be put in front of the people. }(

15. "The President is discussing the Democratic plan for X with members of the
press on Y. The Republicans are strongly encouraged to attend, present their own plans, and be prepared to discuss the relative merits of both proposals."

Show up or look uncooperative/unprepared. Either way, the President gets to sell his proposals. All he needs to do is make sure that the press includes someone like Maddow or Lawrence O'Donnell who will ask real questions.

17. Run it like a company!
Run the White House like most company's run. They are accountable to their share holders right?? WE THE PEOPLE are the governments "Share Holders". After all we pay their salaries, they gamble with our money, should we at least have some say (besides the "johnny come lately elections")?

How about a live monthly "Share Holders" Meeting with the President, Vice President, Majority and Minority leaders???

It could be done on a live video feed with NO SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, NO OUTSIDE INTERESTS, NO WALL STREET TYPES, CEO'S!

Just plain old fashion citizens from all walks of life in all states asking questions LIVE! It should be viewable by anyone that is a registered US citizen.

Get our children involved so they understand why politics is so important while holding our elected officials accountable.

*Of course it would need to be on a separate feed from the White House and monitored to prevent any security leaks that would compromise our national interest and security..

:toast:

18. Yesterday when I heard about the meeting I thought it would be great to record them secretly.
Obama could get them to say what their true intentions are, including threats, etc and then leak out the video to destroy them.

Unless you can embarrass them into it. And that can be accomplished.
