Where is the "NO"???
Let me just say before I post this, I know I'm going to take a lot of heat for it, and that's fine. But this is how I feel, and I don't see how I'm the only one who could feel this way.

I'm a liberal, progressive, Democrat. I have certain principles that I would like to see translated into public policy, and I thought Barack Obama would be the man to deliver these policies. He campaigned on them, and he's talked about them...but what happens? The GOP obstructs to EVERYTHING this President WANTS to get done..and rather than getting tough with them and standing his ground, he CONTINUOUSLY gives in to their demands. Health care reform, financial reform, etc...and now today I read this article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101104/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_obama;_ylt=ApgfBgQDFrMXQhLKBaZg0.OyFz4D;_ylu=X3oDMTI1YnFrc2xpBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAxMTA0L3VzX29iYW1hBHBvcwM1BHNlYwN5bl9tb3N0X3BvcHVsYXIEc2xrA29iYW1hY2hhbGxlbg--

In the article I saw the following:

"President Barack Obama sought Thursday to retake the political initiative after a bruising election, inviting Republican and Democratic congressional leaders to meet with him on the economy and jobs. The White House said Obama would consider extending Bush-era tax cuts even for upper income Americans for a year or two."

Holy fucking shit! I'm going insane at this point!!! EXTENDING the Bush tax cuts for a year or two!?!?! When we've got an economy in the shitter with the middle class disappearing, and the rich getting richer...you're gonna cut taxes for the wealthiest 2%....why? Because the GOP wants you to....

Where is the fucking "NO"???

NO - I'm not gonna extend those tax cuts. It's a failed policy.
NO - I'm not gonna back down on Health care reform and you aren't repealing shit.
NO - I'm not gonna compromise anymore on energy, education, etc...

When is Barack Obama going to put his foot down and just say "NO"?? Does this man STAND for anything? Because if he doesn't he's sure to be TROUNCED by the GOP in 2012...and it could be the likes of Sarah fucking Palin! That SCARES me!!!

Tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way! If this President doesn't stand up for his BASE, the progressive cause, then fuck it, I am FINISHED with him!

1. He said he'd meet with them and listen to their bullshit arguments. And that's all he said.

I doubt their bullshit arguments are going to be very compelling.

And somebody is going to ask "HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR IT?". And as far as I can tell they have no answer.

The meeting hasn't happened yet and you still have time to communicate with your Democrat Senators or Reps. Obama is wanting the tax thing done during the lame duck.

2. And this is why I'd love to see it televised. "You said you want to keep all the
Bush tax cuts?"

And he shows them the graphs for the two plans.

"How will you pay for it?"

<mumble, mumble, platitude>

"No, specifically, how will the American people pay for it? What are we cutting? Oh, that? Well, if you do that, then this happens over here. Do you think the country will be satisfied with that?"

He's well-versed enough that he could run rings around them. Let's let him do it, on the air, and show them up for the fools they are. It's a vital debate; why shouldn't it be on CSPAN at the very least?

5. Think courtroom - Repubs present your argument, Then I will prove for the jury you are clueless
Edited on Thu Nov-04-10 04:21 PM by emulatorloo
There's just been an election and Obama has something to prove.

- the repubs don't want to solve problems
- and their ideas would only make things worse.

6. I agree.
His advisers are idiots.

Rahm is gone. It won't hurt to get rid of more of the
staus quo baggage.

7. His job is to make them look like the fools
It is exactly the situation Clinton faced. People are fed up with not enough getting done. Obama needs to force the republicans into a corner, but he can't afford to be perceived as the obstructionist. This last election was mostly about frustration and the first side that gives into their base and stops things from happening is going to become the focus of people's frustration. Obama needs to listen to the repugs, then counter with a reasonable proposal that makes it his--the repugs won't be able to resist, they'll take the bait and fall into the whole party of no thing again. When he has public opinion on his side again, then he can bring down the hammer.
