A few thoughts about the Teabaggers...
So far, they've been floating on anger, with no reality-connection. That's a lot like your typical low-information, high-rage Republican (often fundamentalist). You can persuade this crowd to believe anything. As the economy crashes, the cynical propaganda masters should have no problem convincing their dittoheads that the whole problem was caused by 1) Obama; 2) welfare cheats 3) not being able to go far enough right because all those nasty liberals are thwarting them 4) Industry is hampered by regulations 5) the tax breaks for the rich weren't big enough to motivate them to provide new jobs.

The danger point for the Republicans is if some fairly smart and charismatic person starts capturing the attention of the 'baggers. Palin and Beck afren't quite smart enough, although they are both certainly evil enough. If that happens, a significant portion of the Republican base may follow the 'baggers off the reservation. That will be trouble for Republicorp. The 'bagger heretics will probably never get big enough to win an election under their own party banner, so they will remain in an unstable alliance with Republicorp, and they will have enough clout to get the Republicorp leaders to make some significant concessions to them. Those concessions may be ugly enough to turn off a fairly large majority of the public, which could in turn blow the whole right wing out of the water.

There is one other possibility here. That possibility is that something entirely different might happen and I'm fantasizing about nothing.

1. As I mentioned in another thread...
the original tea party type people were *anti-war*.

(They were the libertarian fringe of the GOP led by Ron Paul, who came up with the idea of a new Tea Party)...

So it would be interesting if someone brought this up, i.e. challenged them to stay true to their original Paulite Tea Party principles.

2. I figure the ones that really are scared and disgusted
that didn't know what else to do and jumped on board...will again become disgusted and not vote again for a very long time...the TP's are juniors and won't get to do jack...and you see how fast Scott Brown was dumped...
