6. I take your meaning
but still, how does anybody get anything done? No, I'm not talking about giving the other side everything THEY want while they refuse to give us anything and running with it but there is little major IMHO that can be done now (and, realistically even during the past 20 months) without tweaking major policy proposals somewhat. Obama and the remaining Democrats in Congress should extend their hands to any of the Republicans (if any are actually left) whom demonstrate a genuine ability and willingness to work together to solve the problems they were (allegedly) elected to solve for the next 20 months (starting in January).

If there are none and the Pubs simply decide to demand that Obama cater to their agenda, obstruct, and engage in frivolous *investigations*, well, then President Obama and the Democrats in Congress should very plainly and loudly call them out on it over and over again and then go back to the American public in 2012 (more of whom will be listening and voting) and make the case that divided government and "bipartisanship" simply is NOT going to work with a bunch of lunatics whose divorce from reality is finally complete and hope that the American Public finally gets THAT message loud and f***ing clear!

Of course, it COULD conceivably go the other way too and the American Public wants to give a Republican a pen with which to sign all of their wildest dreams and fantasies and if that happens, then, well, heaven help us all.

I'm much more inclined to believe (or hope anyway) that when the rest of the electorate returns from their "hiatus" from voting in 2012, the "teabaggers" will become toast and Obama will win another term and we get the House back.
