President Obama and VP Biden have appeared at a lot of events since they were elected, but that's going to have to cease after January. Before, when they appeared together they had assurance that if something happened to them the presidency would be in Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's hands. But as of January that won't be the case.

With the prospect of the presidency going to John Boehner if both of them were 'taken out' (to borrow a common republican phrase) Obama and Biden will probably never appear together unless it is in a heavily secure area. There are too many radical and violence-prone republicans who would seize this opportunity to make the orange man, President Boehner.

That is a terrifying prospect, but the tan man Boehner will be constitutionally the next in line in succession after Vice President Biden once he becomes Speaker of the House of Representatives.

With all the talk about 'using 2nd Amendment remedies' and the constant violence and fear mongering by Faux and right wing radio hatemongers there are no shortages of deranged right wingers with their weapons locked & loaded and ready to act on their insane beliefs.

3. I respect you a lot, but I think you are over-reacting.
They have excellent Secret Service protection, and they will continue to appear together as needed.

If they don't, they will be seen as a cowards.

That just is not going to happen.

4. I agree CP, but I'm sure security will be boosted when they appear together.
I understand what you said and appreciate it, but there is a very real danger from the right. I wrote the OP more to inform or remind people of the Constituional line of succession. A lot of people aren't aware of it. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but the prospect of a President Boehner is unsettling at the least. I get worried when I see President Obama going through crowds of people, shaking hands and pausing to talk.

We had three great leaders all assassinated within a five year period in the 1960s and that was before the internet, Faux, and right wing radio where hatred flows 24 hours a day. I know the secret service has a lot more protective capabilities than they did then, but the danger, IMO, has also increased dramatically.

Thanks for your nice comments CaliforniaPeggy. I appreciate them, and you...

13. Well, if we can't overreact on DU, where on earth can we?
Isn't the right to breaking out into hysterics at the very heart of the First Amendment? Didn't the American people, by a whopping majority just endorse a pro-overreaction agenda?

6. Thanks for stepping up to post what I was afraid to say straight out.

The takeover of the House was a very deliberate action on the part of the right. Yes, I know, they went after the Senate, too, but the MSM focus was overwhelmingly on the idea that the GOP was going to take the House and not, I feel, just because this was a more realistic goal for the Republicans.

Speaker of the House is third in line to the Presidency should the line of succession have to be invoked. Obama and Biden have new security concerns now.

9. The way it stands now
it won't make a hill of beans as to who is the President as the pukes are not going to let this president accomplish anything more and they are going to do their damnedness to make sure they take apart every last single thing good hes done so far and that you can be sure of. :puke:

President Boehner would be the one standing between Wall Street and the Pitchforks.
