We need to redefine our agenda and we need to push for progressives all the way.

We can regain the house and get Obama for 4 more years. Obama or a progressive challenger.

Personally, I would like to push Obama to come back, a new Obama, or maybe the old Obama, the one who we voted for, the one who we thought would kick ass and make minced meat of the republicans.

We need a progressive caucus, people who stand for the people, energize the base back into voting, energize the young votes, the first-time voters, the minority and LGBT voters. The women, the elders, the lower and middle class as well as the so-called educated elite.

We need to be loud and raucus, overcome the apathy, fill the enthusiasm gap with confetti, red white and blue.

We need to be so loud and so enthusiastic that the gap in campaign donations for the left and right will not matter.

Is everybody ready to work on this or are we still trying to explain what happened? We can't spend 2 years working on a final draft on our official DU explanation for what happened or did not happen durign the last 2 years.

Let's kick some butt.

4. I'm in the acceptance stage... Obama is in the bargaining stage, you got that one wrong

Once he gets through the steps, he'll be back to battling them.

5. Not a clue. Not extending the Bush cuts is one thing.

After that it will go to reconciliation and by then we can use this against them.

7. I'm with you. Finger pointing feels good and makes us feel righteous, but it
accomplishes nothing. The important thing is that we halt this NOW -- I don't want to wait until 2012.

Obama has so much to offer, and I think we need to do what we can to help him be the best he can be -- for us and for the country. :patriot:

8. He needs to find his groove. Remember Reagan in 82.
People thought he would be a one-termer. Unemployment was as bad as it is today. The Dems won the house. And then... he found his groove.

10. I'm trying. And I hope my recent posts might be useful. Despair won't get us where we need to go,
let alone help the people that as progressives we want to help.

Amen.

11. As long as some of us want to spend a large portion of our time attacking Obama...
...or wishing for a replacement for him, then, no, we're not ready to start working on 2012.

Like it or not (and, personally, I like it), President Obama will be our standard-bearer in '12 and, unless we can enthusiastically unite around leading him and the party to victory over the Republicans, we'd be better off not trying until we can. "Vote for my guy...O.K. I really don't like him, but I hate the other guys more" isn't much of a rallying cry.
