My question to those who care about such things, is this statement valid or just the wild rantings of a guy who doesn't have any real wealth and is just jealous of those who have the talent to accumulate vasts amounts of wealth, luck and birthright are considered "talent" in this case...

1. I am not familiar with John Rawls...

But I think he's right. The haves vs. the have-nots does not make for much in the way of domestic tranquility.

He may very well be jealous of those with wealth, but IMHO that doesn't lessen how right he is.

2. I am not exactly certain what Ted meant. but the statement

is essentially true.

In this country it was never intended that we would be equal
in an absolute sense. There will be varying degrees of abiltiy\
luck etc. The thought in the past has been: Each person has
to catch the brass ring and make of it the most that you can.

Ted may have been saying circumstances over the years have
caused changes in our system which limits opportunity. When
you have a small group having the vast majority of the wealth
this creates a systme where those(already advantaged) have
mor opportunities to continue to enrich themselves. Very often
this can limit others not so blessed. I think most peo;e
believe that the opportunites are so much more limited
that it is causing some people to questio the system.

Some people use the old expression? The system rigged.

I believe if we could really get the the Teabagger in one ones
we would find that they believe the a lot of others who
blieve the System is rigged against them and. Bankers,
Politicians, esecia/
