How can some people have the gall to be pissed at YOU when THEY do something wrong?

I was driving to work this AM, and some young punk-ass guy in a mini pickup got impatient about the speed of traffic in his lane, so he swerved over into mine. He didn't signal, and he basically cut me off.

I flashed my brights at him.

He slowed down, popped back over into the right lane, and flipped me off. I screamed at him to use his fucking turn signal next time. When he saw the look on my face, he blanched a bit, and quickly sped off.

So, how is it that people can do something illegal, unsafe, and generally douchebaggy, then get pissed at you when you call them on it? Is EVERYONE is this country turning into a fucking Republican?

They're all over the place.

I've had similar things happen out on the road...mainly people who don't know what a triangular yellow "YIELD" sign means. You don't just randomly go speeding up the on ramp into traffic going 55 MPH, expecting other people to make way for you...yet that's happened a lot, and most of these people act like THEY had the right of way even though they're supposed to yield to oncoming traffic.

Same thing going around rotaries.

Some perfectly reasonable people turn into major assholes when they're protected by a ton or two of metal.

Also, there's the relative anonymity of the internet turning people into jerks.


Are people more rude these days? Who knows...it does seem like there are a whole lot more rude people, though.

9. I've been wondering that too... Yesterday at Whole Foods a woman

wasn't looking where she was going and nearly rammed me (hard) with a loaded shopping cart. Reflexively, I said "excuse me" even though it clearly was not my fault. She shot me the nastiest look, didn't apologize and just kept going. I saw her later in the check out line looking at me across the store--still with that glaring look, as though I had nearly run her down. :shrug:

12. My 12 year old gets embarassed when I do this but, when we shop,

and I see the sour pusses, and the nasty 'get the hell out of my way' glares in response to my smile, I say something along the way of,"Look at all the unhappy little people here, BabyG. If I was that nasty and sour faced, I would just stay home until I felt better."

The one that really made him mad at me was when I was shopping behind a yahoo in a tea bagger t-shirt. "BabyG, I was going to buy some tea...but suddenly I think I'm off tea for life."

Yes, I am the person that no one wants to go shopping with. I sing along with the music and respond to the U-scan's "Thank you for shopping at HEB" with a hearty "You're Welcome!" :hi:

My kids used to get all embarrassed at stuff I did shopping too.

One of those things...which I still do...involved reading funny greeting cards and laughing like hell.


So anyway, my kids are grown with kids of their own, and they have good memories of their crazy mom in the stores...

This was over a decade ago now...
We both were walking up opposite sides of the street. I stopped at the crosswalks when the light was against me.
He did not. He just kept walking. He would literally step out into oncoming traffic, like he was suicidal and daring them to hit him.

I got to the bus stop about 40 seconds after he did, and then the bus arrived 5 minutes later.
