Is anyone watching Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars?
It occurred to me that her appearance on that show kind of sums up Republicans and how they win. She is not a good dancer and should have been gone weeks ago. In fact, a couple better dancers have been eliminated but she still gets voted back every week. Republicans don't have to be good to win, they just have to have other R's walk in lock step and vote for them.

find humorous!

23. I don't like those kind os shows either but I switch
back and forth to see if this is the time she makes a bigger fool of herself. The let better dancers go, correct. And they way things go with republicans she is liable to win. The times I catch her she looks like a torso walking around on wooden popsicle sticks. How she can keep winning. Even her partner can't make her look good.

(and I also like the fact the very talented Brandy is getting all the RW racists goat)...

Bristol is being kept on by the lock-step RWer Palinbots, but also because she is good for ratings, I suppose. She really has so little personality coming through I sort of feel sorry for her. But, she has an engaging partner whose skills obviously cover for her lack of dancing ability. I will be livid if Bristol eliminates any of the really talented contestants, though.

instead of their brains.

If BP is something to hang their vote on - we're into more serious shit than we thought.

I enjoy watching the professional dancers. I wish I had that kind of talent.

Considering the fact that DWTS was the highest-rated show on TV twice last month, it seems there's many more people that agree with my choice of entertainment than with yours.

Is there a point anywhere that you're circling? If so, you might wanna bring it on in for a landing.

Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's not total crap. In fact, popularity usually MEANS it's crap.

37. Well, excuuuuuuuuuse me
Truthfully, I really don't care what you may or may not think about my choice of TV entertainment on a Monday night. The point I am trying to make is that I (and millions of others, thanks) aren't breathlessly waiting for your bleeding-edge commentary of What's Worth Watching on TV.

>In fact, popularity usually MEANS it's crap.<

You might want to give the producers and actors of the following TV programs a call and let them know their critically-acclaimed, popular TV shows are "crap" as well.

Modern Family
Castle
Mad Men
True Blood

for instance.

I'm sure they'll be happy to hear from you!

are also crap.

Face it: crap sells. But it doesn't mean it's not crap.

If you want to buy into the consumer culture, fine. Just don't try to convince me there's much merit in it, because we both know it's a cultural and intellectual wasteland with very few exceptions.

41. I can't wait to hear what you enjoy on a Monday night
Then again, I don't really care.

It's been my experience that those who look down their noses at the "cultural and intellectual wasteland" around them have little or nothing of import to say, and even less to offer the rest of us, otherwise known as the great unwashed.

I'll enjoy myself with the little people. Typically, they're a lot more fun than the smug, supercilious, bleeding-edge hipsters people like my sister-in-law like to spend time with...

7. A win is a win. We Progressives believe quality over quantity, but
Repubes don't care how they get there just as long as they win, and in the end, that is what really matters.

It's something we Democrats need to learn to accept, and to make it our own. Then we'd be invincible since we have the numbers.

are precisely the same demographic that calls in and votes on crap shows like DWTS. So it should not surprise anyone that she is still alive. Furthermore, I would not be surprised in the least if the votes of these dumbasses are enough to propel her to a win.

Couldn't believe it - lucky sperm donor and egg product that she is, she probably knows that with the Grifter as her egg layer, she has no voting concerns. I'm not even gonna watch Momma Gristly's reality show. Don't like any of them, hate to be enabling them, you know?

I wouldn't even piss on a Palin if they were on fire, and that's a fact.

20. More BP=higher ratings+advertising=$$$ to the network.
She would obviously not be competing on DWT$ if it were not for being very attractive (but not truly stunning or gorgeous) and she still would have needed her mother's political "celebrity" status to become a contestant.

That said, I am honest enough to state that if I could earn $$$ simply by sponging off of or discover some means to directly or indirectly benefit from one of my family member's sudden rise to national fame (or becoming infamous) it would be very difficult for me to avoid doing so.

If Bristol had been frumpy/homely looking and/or visibly overweight/obese, she would have had absolutely zero chance of obtaining even a rehearsal tryout for that "reality" show, IMO.

21. The only thing keeping that klutz on the show are right wing dolts.
Republicans haven't cared about having talented, intelligent or visionary candidates since Reagan was elected. Republicans don't care if their candidates are ignorant and have no clue about the issues. They worship their almighty 'R' and nothing else.

During the past 30 years look at how far down the quality of republican candidates has fallen. We were up against ignorant, stupid and even insane candidates like Sharron Angle, Christine ODonnell, Michelle Bachmann, Ken Buck, Joe Miller and countless other extremists. Their supporters get 100% of their information from Faux and right wing radio. Their brains have been divorced from reality for years and their dumbing down keeps getting worse. Most believe being a deranged religious fanatic is a positive attribute for a republican candidate. They value unqualified and extremist candidates and reject intelligent, informed and educated ones. In other words, they want people as stupid as they are as leaders in Washington. It's obvious right wingers couldn't care less about our country's future if they want to entrust it in the hands of the most unqualified people they can find.

Bristol Palin is just another example of their race to the bottom. Right wingers will keep voting for her regardless of her obvious lack of talent and the absence of any effort to actually trying to exceed at dancing.

Our country is in serious trouble if we have millions of people who value stupidity, ignorance and mental laziness.

46. As far as I can tell...
...this spawn of Palin has never done anything wrong other than be associated with a nitwit.

The hate spewed on this kid is amazing and pretty much unwarranted. But, if it makes people feel better to punish someone for the sins of the parents - who am I to say they are just being petty assholes?

I have watched this show from time to time (old roommate watches it religiously - hates seeing Bristol on there) and can say that it has some funny and touching moments. But, for the most part I have enough 'reality' in my life - I need distractions.
