I'm not ready to give on President Obama yet..
Just like I stood behind Clinton during the whole Monica thing, I'm not walking away from Obama. He didn't get as far as he has gotten in his political career by being A. weak and B. naive. This is just one election there are many more to come and I still believe that with the right Congress and Senate behind him, (people willing to work with him, not against him } President Obama can achieve great things for our country and the American people.

1. K&R! Obama's only real problem is that he's too honest.
Unlike the GOP offerings of the past four decades, Obama cares about the COUNTRY!

4. I don't think he gives a shit about his "legacy". I think he's just working for us.
Weird, huh?

18. Then why the futile 'bipartisanship' ?
Compromising for nothing in return? Kumbaya with sociopaths? If he doesn't wise up to the reality of what the GOP really is, then he will have no legacy to give a shit about.

23. I think he knows full well what the GOP is all about.
A loss in the off-season isn't uncommon. He'll just let them loudly slit their own throats.

Despite all of the GOP obstructions, he really did accomplish a shitload in two years. The problem is that he trusted his "people" to get the word out and they fucked up royally.

14. Yes, and I'm tired of that being seen as a negative and a weakness
To me it is the Republican mindset that prides itself on abusing the rules and taking advantage just to win and using power just to use it. It reminds me of schoolyard bullies. There is way too much admiration for that on DU right now.

2. Quite frankly, I think its in our best interests to tune out what Obama says for the next
few weeks...he HAS to say he wants to work with the GOP...series-ly, if he doesn't the MSM will be all over him. What he needs to do is act as if he wants to work with them, then screw them over and make them look like the ones not playing fair...that will be determined in a few months...so everone should take a deep breath.

5. Bullshit
Obama needs to stop worrying what the MSM is going to say and just do what is right for the country. He needs to go on the offensive against the GOP. He needs to call their bluff on EVERYTHING. He needs to drop the Kumbaya fail.

9. It's not just the MSM - it's the Republicans, too. Although I'd love to see him
come out and call bullshit on their crap, that would just give them MORE ammo to further rev up their rhetoric. So it's not what I want to see, it's how he handles it to actually accomplish the things he needs to. That will be more telling than what he says in front of the cameras. IMO, natch. :7

19. Anyone who does that does not win offices in this electorate, however
We still hear how Jimmy Carter was weak. Who owns the M$M? We can't pretend we don't have to be careful. Look what happened to Dean and the scream. The voters are not like we are. They won't just say look how he cares about the country. They go along with M$M spin.

10. He doesnt have to say anything about it
He can work with them but only if they are realistic about working with him. He has to call their bluff and put the ball in their court. He needs to go on the offensive against supply side economics which is ruining this country. He needs to have the CBO put out a massive report on what supply side economics has done to this country and what will happen if we go back to Bush era economic polices. He needs to go on the 'offensive' and stand up for what is right and stop worrying about what the press thinks and what the GOP thinks. He needs to stop giving them everything in the name of bipartisanship for zero in return. They are playing him for a fool and he keeps falling for it.

17. Right! That would make things so much worse!
It's immature to expect him to do shit like that!

Some people will give up everything for a second's emotional satisfaction.

7. I agree. So many times people go ballistic over something he said -- like
they actually think he's telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth. It doesn't occur to them that this is POLITICS. A great example is we all knew Biden was fighting hard NOT to send more troops to Afghanistan, but when the decision was made he said "I believe we're taking the right course." He HAD to say that. We KNEW better.

We don't know exactly where Obama will move from here and he's probably giving it a LOT more thought than we are, but until he's got his game on, there are things he has to say and do and people shouldn't take it all as gospel.

I'm not judging him at UNTIL there's some action or non-action to base my decision on.

I really think highly of the man and I continue to trust him.

11. 100% agreement. Corporate Media are trying to take him down
and I know he knows this.

He has two years of my support. If I don't see any change in his attitude toward the Repukes and corporate media, if I see no fire in his eye and tone, and if I don't see him hitting them back as hard as Senator No-Lips and the Orangeman, I'm done with him.

Until that time, until the end of his first term, I will give him the benefit of the doubt, and support and defend him.

8. I stand behind Obama but I want him to understand clearly
that if the GOP has as its goal :: Obama be one term President.

then: Obama must have as his politcal goal the Demise of
the Republicans.

12. So many times I've thought he wasn't aware of something because he gave
no indication and we're out here hollering "why doesn't he DO something?". We come to learn he HAS been doing something and HAS been aware. It's frustrating for us because we want to know what's going, but that's how the game is played. You don't tell your opposition your game plan before you begin implementing it.

So we'll see. I've no doubt he's fully aware of their number one goal. He does have TV in the WH. :7 :hi:

13. Re'cd. I am so sick of the weak and naive thing.
and the more we say that about him, the more it sticks and give the M$M ammunition. It's really a stupid thing to do. Cutting of nose to spite face, shooting self in foot, etc.

If we are that quick to label our own candidates negatively we don't deserve anything. It's so bad it's got to be Republican cleverness.

Or the victims of his collusion with the financial sector and MIC. When he stops those things, then we can talk.

We really have no choice but to stick by him. The good news is, that he's not George Bush. That guy was a disaster.

22. Clinton had it even worse in '94, but he turned things around and got reelected.
Obama's approval ratings are in the 45-50% range. Clinton's was in the 30s. A few years later, they were in the 70's.

The GOP's insanely cocky right now, and they WILL fuck up.

And Obama's not stupid - he's perfectly capable of changing his tactics, changing course, and making things better.
