Anything you can do... Playful dolphin steals the show, sharing a wave with an amazed surfer
By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 2:35 PM on 5th November 2010

A stunned surfer was on the crest of a wave when he leapt on his board and shared a ride with this bottlenose dolphin.
Pete Tomlinson, 26, could not believe his eyes as the playful mammal fearlessly surfed the 10ft breaker alongside him.

The pair shared the wave for around 50 yards and even shared a 'tube' - where the breaking wave forms a tunnel of water.

4. I see dolphins in the waves all the time!
I go to the beach almost every weekend, and the best days are dolphin days! They are so playful! When the sun shines through a wave and you see a dolphin silhouette, it just doesn't get much better than that!

8. I saw six of them body surfing, standing up on their tails, on one wave. Astonishing!
Dozens of others on the beach saw it too. We just ran around asking each other, "Did you see that?"

16. This reminds me of that woman that decided to paddleboard to...I can't remember...for
charity. And as she was getting really tired a whale came and swam along side her for quite some time. I was totally blown away by that. I LOVE stories like this, and get positively giddy whenever I see dolphins and whales in the wild. I never get tired of it.

17. Kayaking off Virginia Beach I've had lots of dolphin encounters
The way they make eye contact before doing some astonishing acrobatic move is SO COOL. It's like-- "watch this!"

21. Dolphins have been known to learn tricks and teach the others.
This might become a more common sight soon.

It's amazing.

23. It's a shame that the Japanese kill them with such random abandon.
In Taiji. Send them off to be trained for "swim with" events for idiots. That is, if you live through The Grind.
