Media contracts and Keith
I am sure the contract that he signed included a do not get involved in politics (donating et al) in the contract. That is why Murrow did not even vote until he retire...

Now here is what I want you guys to do... find out if Santelli, for example, has actually donated. If he has, then you have a case of a double standard. If he has not, then you don't.

Fox doesn't have that limit.

And all YOUR donations, I mean this... ALL your donations are public.

And yes companies have a right to do this. That does not mean I will not write MSNBC.. I will. And I expect it to be pissing in the wind UNLESS I can find any of their right wing blowhards have donated too.

1. Wouldn't Keith know what's in his own contract and wouldn't he know
whether or not he could make political contributions?

I say we launch a massive DU investigation of all NBC/Universal execs and on-air personalities.

6. From evrything I've read, this only applies to JOURNALISTS and not just on air personalities.
I'd help you investigate, but you'll have to tell me whatto do. I don't know where to start.

9. not really, for example
Rachel tried to do something after Scott Brown used her to raise money. She was informed it violated her contract so she had to stop.

5. Thanks will have to separate the wheat from chaff
that means contributors and entertainers from core news staff.

3. Yes, maybe they can do it
but, I would love to see an legal eagle take this, make a case (there may be grounds) and take it all the way to the USSC if need be and set a new precedent regarding work contracts and political contributions.

4. Who's Santelli? We should be able to find out because, as you say, it's all
public record. And easy to find.

That's too bad that companies can do this. It seems to override a citizen's rights, but if they agree to it as a condition of employment...

Is it only in the media that this practice occurs? I can't imagine it would be legal for other companies have such a provision.

I'm reeling.
