I put my life on the line before and thankfully enough REAL progressives were there to save my life, but today I wouldn't trust that to happen. The way we have reacted to Obama and now the situation with K.O. I have plenty of reason to say no way I would put my life on the line thinking Progressives would have my back, because I can see they wouldn't.

I have been let down by progressives in the last couple of years like none support of our efforts to get a progressive station in Phoenix and then Newcomb sabotaging our efforts. I could go further but that is enough and the fact is I posted if you read again that I WOULDN'T do so today because of how progressives have failed to support Obama, and now how fast we are willing to side with MSNBC even though that network is defending Scarbrough in his doing the very thing Keith did. Instead of defending Keith some are saying he asked for it. Now who in their right mind would expect people like that to cover the one going out on a limb? I have been there and thankfully some real progressives covered my back, but as we worked to get a progressive station going here some of those same people backed down and left us hanging. No I wouldn't take that risk again until I see something from the progressive community to let me know I can count on them.

FEAR

The right has done a very good job of raising the fear level in this country. They have used loss of jobs, terror, taxes, loss of homes, and anything else they can find to scare the population that they have the answers and they know whom to blame. They blame the democrats, they blame Obama, the blame the un-godly, they blame the browns, they blame the Muslims, they blame everyone except themselves.

The democrats are not immune to this fear. They have lost jobs, they have lost homes, they have lost as much as the right. At the same time they are trying to save this country from itself. They care about their fellow man and woman. The right cares only for themselves and can not see past their own fear, anger, and hate. It is hard some times to have someones' back when you have fear.

You can either believe in the progressives or not, that is your choice. You can go it alone, you can put your trust in the right, or you can put your trust in the progressives when the real battle comes down. I know which one I will choose.

10. Welcome To The Water Cooler...

DU is the place where people tend to spew first and think later...emotions always on the sleeve. It's endemic to this type of message board where the members personalities many times entangle with issues. It's like sitting around the water cooler and listening to the gossip...some may be true, others pure fantasy but it reflects the community it serves, and so does DU.

It's very easy to grab a keyboard and spew electrons. In some cases it's good catharsis. I admit I enjoy that aspect of this place as the comments can be more enlightening than the OP, but rarely do I take this place too seriously. If you're looking for true activism, it's at other sites. This place should be appreciated for the sturm and drang but it by no means reflects much more than the individual feelings and thoughts of its individual members...not any organized party or other group.

So for you to compare getting paid multiple millions to "putting your life on the line" is a little bit ludicrous. If he hasn't live too large, Olbermann can still live comfortably without ever having to work a day in his life and he's quite likely to get another six figure job if MSNBC does not take him back. So I don't think Argentina really needs to cry for him.

if you can't back this guy up on a none life threatening situation, it tells me (and I have been there before) that you certainly won't be there in one that is real. I am telling you from a point of view of one who HAS been there and don't think I didn't realize I would need the progressives to cover me or die. Frankly at the time I figured correctly they would but if I had to do it again I would have not done what I did because I would have died and instead of doing the things I was able to do instead I would have just been dead.

See my post below for the reason. Forums are useful sometimes, but you never get a full picture of the people behind the screen names. Someone is a progressive by being a progressive not posting on message boards. Dick Cheney could sign up and post here, and you would never know it :-P
