Sorry But People Who Can't Be Bothered To Learn About Issues and Candidates
and make an informed decision deserve NO RESPECT. Those who let faux news tell them what to think deserve NO RESPECT. Those who let irrational fear of people different than themselves deserve NO RESPECT. I am sick of catering to the unthinking "can't be bothered" to learn something undecideds.

Also I am sick of my fellow Americans being called awful things by racists/bigots and I refuse to just let it pass anymore. There is no changing racists/bigots. Not speaking out when others are bullied is saying its ok and its NOT.

3. I'm Having a Hard Time Being Told Not To Stand Up To Racists

4. Really Stupid is not curable..or to be reasoned with. It is a losing battle to argue with idiots.
Don't fight an idiot, they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Also, it is not productive to enter into a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

5. thanks for the laugh!
Just frustrated today - and I've had it with the mean racist/bigot appologists here. I've had Mexican, gay and black friends verbally attacked lately. Its really disheartening.

2. That is most of the electorate
and this is world wide.

Why I say it is not brighter than a box of rocks, needs crayons, and will react to either fear or hope...

Yes, it is that simple.

Individual voters are intelligent... the aggregate, not so much. It is called group dynamics. They know how to exploit them Dems forgot a while ago and think it is dirty poo.

Well "Republicans WILL privatize SS" works at that same reptilian brain level. You think our brainiacs in the Party are going to run with that? Nope, would be unseemly.

6. sorry, but to *really* learn about all the issues/candidates = a full-time job.
purposefully so.

otoh, labeling the american electorate ignorant, unthinking, lazy, racist, plays right into the hands of the corporatists, who spread the same meme: "They're too ignorant to be trusted with running things!"

7. Actually
A careful study of the electorate leads to their label of ignorant and unthinking. And racist.

10. actually, it doesn't, except for those who fancy themselves superior beings.
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 04:16 PM by Hannah Bell
those are the labels the ruling class uses to rationalize their own failure to be worth voting for & their own phoney political theater.

11. Superior beings?
Yes, educated Democrats who know to vote for Democrats are superior to the ignorant racists.

Your point is??

9. I Said 2 Things- People Refuse To Inform Themselves and Some Are Racist
I know some people don't vot e for issues-judges or whatever if they didn't have time or energy to learn about them. Others let a church or the TV tell them what to do,

The other point was hard core bigots are not going to be changed- but maybe they will stop spewing the hate if not encouraged.

8. Bullshit
Calling people stupid and underserving of respect isn't going to win any votes. The problem is most people know politicians are slimy and can't be trusted (and yes, there have been plenty of false promises and exaggerations from Democratic candidates). Two rich guys calling each other elitist or corporate sellouts doesn't exactly inspire much confidence in the public. Instead of whining about all the "stupid" and racist people who didn't vote for our party, how about finding better ways of communicating what we have to offer. People are undecided not just because they are dumb, but because there are a lot of crap out of touch candidates out there running ugly hypocritical campaigns.

As for the second part of your post, I agree in part. I think bigots and racists can be changed to a point, which of course still involves speaking out and shaming them. At the very least you can shut some up. Most people can be changed/influenced.

15. Why Do I Feel Like I Am Speaking Chinese Here People?
I am not asking fairly simple-minded people to do astro-physics, only to use common sense. If they truly don't like the "mean tone" of elections then why the fuck do they buy into it? Why do they believe Obama is a kenyan-muslim? Why do they think the democrats have caused this recession and deficit? Why do ads with the theme from jaws influence them?- We go overboard trying to talk sensibly and it does NO FUCKING GOOD.

Why oh why stick up for the willful ignorance? and willfull racism
