That's how I'd read it. Really of all the hosts on MSNBC, Keith is the one who is the most difficult to control, of course has a history of demonstrating that difficulty to control with ESPN and FOX, they've developed a farm system of hosts who get roughly equal numbers as Keith in the demo so he's removable without losing their identity, and you have new ownership in Comcast that is very much in a PR business selling competitive TV, web phone, and internet services. So getting the lightning rod off the air can mitigate the damage of another more viewed network, FOX, spending much of their time attacking the new owner for employing said lightning rod.
