Fascism requires a control of the message
we got a SLIGHT reprieve in the closing of American society, but we are back on schedule...

And for those who don't get this, I am sorry.

But let me see...

Donahue

Shuster

KO

I must ask since the KO job was a hatchet from Politico... who's next? And can you smell it?

2. Politico is all over MSNBC during the day. I find it very curious
that they were the ones who did this.

3. I don't
they are as "neutral" as the fair and balanced news models at Fox.

4. Agreed. But it makes me wonder why they would go after
an MSNBC host since they are also employed by MSNBC...why would they go after KO unless they knew they could get away with it?

8. They are not part of MSNBC
and who owns MSNBC these days? And who got elected this Tuesday?

Yes it is connected.

Kiss net neutrality good bye.

KO was a champion of it... Comcast, say hi to the new owners, wants to get rid of it.

5. Damn, that sounds so insidious.
If that were true, then I'd have to believe there were some larger, evil plot waiting to be hatched. Don't get me wrong - I'm not ridiculing anything you are saying. I just think that it would be interesting (and horrific) if what you were saying is true, but think it would be part of a larger conspiracy (in my mind, that is).

9. This is the way it started in Germany
people really need to crack history books.

It will get much, MUCH darker...

12. Since Fox owns Comcast & Comcast owns MSNBC, this qualifies
as a fascist move. Or even a conspiracy.

First, make certain words seem very reprehensible (i.e., conspiracy), then when the time comes when no other word is more appropriate, people will either be afraid to call it like it is or dismiss the word & fail to see it for what it is.

11. Donahue was against the war
he was taken off the air the day the bombing started.

Shuster was annoying

The new owners at MSNBC well it is COMCAST, who is connected to FOX

This brings me also to the point that the media monopolies need breaking, not counting on it.

10. Didn't smell it - felt it , felt it hard. That's the scary part.
My gut is usually right. It acts up in a dark place before the brain begins to engage.

13. I agree. First they will control TV, print media and radio, next will be the internet. We will end
up being every bit as controlled and heavily censored as China is right now. Or worse.

Yup, fascism. It's so obvious even an idiot like me can see what's coming very fast now.

14. Net neutrality is so crucial
-I cannot imagine what it would be like without it.

I feel the shift too, we cannot lose any more ground.

15. Net neutrality is next
and after that, I can see our access to places like BBC taken off... again it is about absolute control.

16. It is so scary
I think people are afraid to even think about it, but it is exactly what we have to preserve. Without open internet only the elite rich will afford access, while the misinformation machine will work toward taking a bigger bite out of the populace.

I think the internet would become less open incrementally, by degrees, as seamlessly as possible, to avoid public outrage. I wonder if the process is underway already. If it was done all at once, people would be in the streets, IMHO.

and it is already under way... areas of the net are no longer available unless you pay.

18. Yes privatization of certain domains
-that is definitely one way it will happen, plus we cannot forget good old data mining. The privatization of the commons of the internet may not be announced until it is too late. I suspect the upgrades have already been put into the hardware.

19. And they'll go for PASSIONATE LW voices first...........
Hence, KO. Passion counts more than facts in American politics in the 21st Century. Keith had facts AND passion. That's why he was the first to go.
