Goodbye Joe Scarborough!!
Joey Scar also contributed to political candidates,
so I would also naturally assume that he is out the door too...
Right??
I mean, MSNBC would not have any Double Standards now would they?
C'mon!!
 :eyes:

Two wrongs don't make a right.

"If he got permission beforehand then he did not violate his contract like Keith did so he has nothing to worry about."

You don't know if Keith violated his contract and you don't know if Joe has anything to worry about or not. Blaming the OPer for your BS post is lame.

22. I will be looking for your post pointing out that the OP is lame then.
The reporting as I understand it thus:

1) NBC has some rule saying some employees can't make donations to political causes/candidates without prior permission.
2) NBC is saying Keith made contributions without prior permission
3) Keith was confirmed that he did make the contributions (nothing about permission either way)
4) NBC says Keith is covered under this rule
5) NBC suspended Keith for violating the rule.

My problem is that the OP left out the "prior permission" part of the rule and instead made the connection that if an employee of NBC made a political donation at all they will/should be suspended. I simply pointed out he missed part of the rational NBC has put forward for the suspension.

23. You can look for whatever post you wish to look for. Enjoy!
As for posting "news" snippets, you "forgot" this one:
"The standards department has told us that MSNBC doesn't answer to NBC News standards," the insider said. "They don't have coverage over MSNBC. They used to, back before MSNBC went political, but at some point it became too hard and MSNBC was taken out of their portfolio. As far as I know, there are no ethical standards at MSNBC. And if NBC says MSNBC is supposed to be living up to the NBC News standards, that's a preposterous lie."

You don't know what rules Keith worked under or if he violated any of them. You don't know if Joe Scar has anything to worry about or not.

24. So since you seem to think nobody knows if Keith broke any rules
why should we be discussing this at all on DU? Shouldn't we wait till it all plays out to discuss it - following your logic? This is a discussion board. The OP has posted a thought with less to do with reality than my posts and people are discussing it. I am fine with that. I added my 2 cents. Apparently you are not fine with that. And you know what .... that's cool too.

34. since my "speculation" was confirmed by Rachel on both points
(that Keith made donations without preapproval and that "a morning host" made contributions that were preapproved) I guess I am a genius at speculation.

25. Problem is, those weren't the rules
The rules that KO was 'suspended' for were NBC's rules. Years ago, NBC stopped applying them at MSNBC. To suddenly start applying them would put the executives in quite the pickle. "Selective Enforcement" is a bad thing when it comes to labor law.

Besides, enforcing the rule on KO is a very stupid and clumsy way of announcing the rules now apply.
