Olbermann suspended. Scarborough (and MANY others) are not - for the same activity
Scarborough gave $5K to a guy in Alabama for this cycle. Why is that okay?

Pat Buchannan, many of their guests-under-contract, some of their executives. Read this:

http://news.lavenderliberal.com/2010/11/05/keith-olbermann-suspension-did-all-these-nbcmsnbc-journalists-get-permission-to-make-these-political-donations/

MSNBC - Worse than Fox.

1. Yeah, I saw that. I wonder if it's because of the new head honcho, the previous
guy didn't have the same agenda? I think it would be key to find out when Scarborough (and others) made those donations (before acquisition?), if they got prior 'authorization' or if their situation differs in any way from Keith's.

The whole thing sucks, but we want to be sure we're incensed for the RIGHT reasons. Apples and apples - ?

Still disagree, Stinky, that MSNBC is worse than Fox. Currently, anyway.

3. My guess...
...would be that if it differs---it is in that they are outspoken shills for the right wing. :eyes::puke:

Probably not worse than Fox. But they are very close in terms of how offensive I find them.

2. I've suspected as much for a long time...

Is it possible that Scarborough asked permission, prior to such contributions (which is where they *claim* their problem lies w/Olbermann)? ....don't get me wrong, I think the whole thing is complete and utter bullshit. I sincerely hope that Olberman has consulted an attorney and pursues any legal recourse (if he has any). I also hope he tells them to go Cheney themselves--and get's a new gig.

That network is evil personified, I don't watch it--not even for Keith. Though, I've applauded his efforts and every blue moon, view a clip of his work through this site.

4. How come you don't watch it? I kind of felt they spoke for us. Not the management, natch,
but the show hosts.

Hey, Rachel is going to address this later in her show. At least I hope you'll watch the vid when I makes it to our videos. I trust her implicitly.

5. For me...
...providing a few token liberal hosts is not enough to make me support an entire network. Especially not enough, when the primary, overarching message of the network seems to be "the right wing rocks!"

Again, just my stance and I don't expect anyone else to agree or support it. Just my personal choice. DU'ers are very generous and bring so many clips of Rachel and Keith here, I've never had to tune in to that right wing-love fest, masquerading as a news network.

I think I walked away, after the 2004 elections, and aftermath. Haven't regretted the decision once. In fact, much of what Du'ers share about the site here, (w/exception of Rachel and Keith) has only confirmed, I made the best decision for me. ;)

9. I was just curious. I really like MSNBC, but I wasn't around in 2004 (involved
in politics) so I didn't see what you saw.

Rachel and Keith are really really good, as is Lawrence O'Donnell, so I'm glad you see some of the clips. :hi:

11. No problem, at all.
:hi: I sincerely did not mind being asked. I'd rather someone ask, and consider my point of view--than to assume (and then hurl insults, based on the assumption).

take care.

7. Mike Malloy, on is radio program, just asserted that Keith has essentially been fired
Mike has had decades worth of experience with corporate media "giants". So I can't help but agree with him since I've been worrying about this possibility.

Of course, I hope it's not what's happening. But it's the brick wall I've been facing today. And given how the elections went, it's a timely spanking.

10. I would have thought if he'd been fired that neither the guy filling in for him
nor Rachel would have said anything (trying to remember if anything was mentioned when Shuster got the boot), plus when the KO sit-in (how rude, I don't remember his name) said "I know you're looking forward to seeing him back, and so are we". If the door wasn't open I don't think they would have referenced a possible return, but again, that's MY interpretation! :7
