4. Don't thank me, thank Mike Malloy for mentioning it!
:toast:

I doubt I'm savvy enough to figure out the phone numbers and emails of the relevant people, but I hope someone is :)

6. Ooo. Good idea.

Count me in.

Here is my email:

Dear Chairman Genachowski

You probably know about MSNBC’s sudden decision to take Keith Olbermann off the air. I believe this was done, because MSNBC’s parent company General Electric was trying to pressure the Obama administration to reconsider Cap & Trade, widely seen as being “off the table” with the change in party control in the House. GE stood to make a lot of money from “Cap & Trade” and anchors such as Howard Fineman and Chris Matthews have been promoting it on air---without disclosing their parent company’s financial stake. This kind of political blackmail is dangerous and should not be rewarded. If MSNBC and NBC exist merely to further the economic ambitions of GE, then the last thing we ought to do is make the news networks more powerful. There is already too much corporate money controlling the news we Americans see. The NBC/Comcast merger is probably a very bad idea at the present time.

8. Intersting perspective!
Mine was a little more bland:

We all know that media consolidation is never a good thing. Americans need more voices, not less!

There is no doubt that approval of this merger will be reflected at the ballot box.

Sincerely,
Arcane1

7. Justice Department:
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 09:24 PM by arcane1
Their main contacts:

Department of Justice Main Switchboard - 202-514-2000

Office of the Attorney General Public Comment Line - 202-353-1555

U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20530-0001

The merger was also (briefly) mentioned in this testimony by Assistant AG - Antitrust Division, Christine Varney:

http://www.justice.gov/atr/public/testimony/260809.pdf

I could not find her specific contact info, only this:

Assistant Attorney General, 514-2401
Director of Operations, 514-3544

Let's give 'em hell! The media is our biggest obstacle, and our voices in it are so few!!! And besides, media consolidation ALWAYS sucks!! :kick:

(Of course, it's pretty late in DC, it might be better to wait until tomorrow) :):smoke::beer:
