3. very interesting election in illinois

republicans took the senate and several key democratic house seats but the governor won reelection. i`m not sure actually what the hell happened.

Whereas a "moderate" Repub ran for Senate. If a "moderate" had run for governor, he or she would have won in a landslide. The IL Democratic party was tainted with all the Blago crap, and the only reason Quinn won was because a) people knew that he and Blago hated each other and b) Brady was a far right lunatic. Giannoulis, on the other hand, lost because the "family bank mafia" connection smeared him with the same "corrupt Chicago" brush as Blago, and because Mark Kirk is not an extremist.

I can't speak to the House races because none of them were in my district. My district is possibly the most gerrymandered in the state, and as such is a foregone conclusion for the idiot do-nothing Repub incumbent :crazy:

we looked at his record and noticed he always changed his tune when it was election time. i thought giannoulis was a poor choice and i guess i was right. although foster dumped 3 million plus into my town the rethugs voted against him.

at least quinn is governor thus insuring that nothing to bad will happen and madigan is still in control of the state.

I voted for him over Hoffman after much agonizing in the primary because I liked his health care position better, but Hoffman might have won, since he was an "outsider" in every meaningful way. Oh well... yeah, at least Quinn will keep Illinois from turning into a Republican hellhole.
