1. Wonder if HBO would
give him a show. The only other cable network is CNN.
Never FOX.

13. I think HBO is all that's left (pun) for Keith
With the possible exception of satellite radio.
He's already burned so many bridges behind him, presumably in the interest of journalistic independence, that I believe his re-employment chances are narrow.

I know he worked at Fox and ESPN, but I don't know about CNN. I don't think he'd fit in over there. I just want him back at 8:00pm Eastern on a channel opposite Fox, like MSNBC

11. Not compared to the "gold mine" NBC will get from Comcast...
...once they get rid of all those progressives "fouling the airwaves."

3. Probably nowhere...
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 09:27 PM by regnaD kciN
The only real option is CNN, which I doubt would take him (too "partisan" :eyes: ). I would guess that, if NBC cans him, he'll wind up either getting a syndicated radio show, or writing an op-ed column somewhere. Much lower visibility, but there aren't that many national outlets for political opinion that aren't Faux.

ON EDIT: Considering the attack CNN just did on him, I doubt that's an option, either. Oh, well...at least he'll get to write some more books.

16. Two problems...
1) Starting a new cable channel is immensely expensive, and
2) Getting cable companies to carry your channel is very difficult until you've "proven" yourself elsewhere. (Sort of the old "Want a job? Get experience. Want experience? Get a job" paradox.)

If Air America couldn't make it in the less-costly world of radio, I doubt any investors would have such a death wish as to try to start a liberal cable channel -- especially not in the current political and economic climate.

...when and if he can get out of his MSNBC contract.

I'd be thinking that DialGlobal would be jumping at the chance.

23. He's Not Going Anywhere...
Sheesh...people love to jump 10 steps beyond where things are. Again...he's been suspended, not fired. I expect in the next week he'll sit down with Griffin and other honchos at 30 Rock and things will be worked out and he'll be back on the air. For all the tin foil hats out there (like how Comcast already own MSNBC...they don't) all that is still known is from the NBC release and nothing more. On the surface, he appears to have violated his contract and if we start to let people break their agreements, then are we just as tolerant if the network were to fire him without due cause? This is a business decision unless otherwise proven...and not conjecture. False equivelency doesn't work either since not all contracts are the same. Also, it's not that Keith couldn't donate, it's the provisions in his deal stated he had to notify the network prior to doing so. He didn't which in its own right has turned into an embarassment to the network.

But enough of reality...if things do go badly and he were terminated, I would think the first thing he'd do is take a nice long vacation...travel...get away from the 24/7 nutcracker world he has lived in for the past 6 years. Then, like Aaron Brown, I could see him taking a seat in the Communications Department of a major university (Cornell anyone??) and help educate the next generation of journalists. But I don't expect him to be taking up that career any time soon. He should be back...and I'm betting next week.

30. Except he's banned from ESPN's campus
Keith was banned from ESPN after ripping them on the Daily Show (then with Craig Kilborn). I'm afraid Keith's personality rubs a lot of employers the wrong way, and maybe that has something to do with his suspension.

31. He'd End Up Teaching...
His options on the cables is very limited...and if he is terminated or leaves the network there's sure to be some kind of non-compete that could keep him off the air.

My bets is when the time comes for him to exit the meatgrinder that is corporate media, he'll take a chair in some communications department (Cornell would be a nice fit).
