Contrary to what some continuously say no one was expecting a quick turnaround, things were way too bad for that but people were looking for a new direction and they did not see it. Unfortunately they chose representatives who are not going to give them that at all.

The Senate DLC-o-crats would have said NO anyway, in spite of all of the presidential lobbying, thereby killing the bill.

No health care bill at all = -100 seats in the House, -11 in the Senate.

According to THAT poll, a majority of Americans want what President Obama ended up getting: a mandate that all Americans buy insurance. Why are you not celebrating that?
According to THAT poll, a majority of Americans favor it if it is available only to those who lack affordable private options.
According to THAT poll, a majority of Americans do not support taxing private plans to pay for a public option. Other than that, I didn't see any data on what people supported in order to fund it.

I wonder why?

Oh, thats right, because that other poll that was being used to show +70% support for a public option ALSO showed that not even half of Americans were willing to pay for it. If you won't pay for it, you don't support it.

No matter how much wishing and spinning people do, the basic FACT is that President Obama took what he could get and that is better than nothing. Well, at least it is to those millions and millions that will be helped by it.
