Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 09:28 AM by ElsewheresDaughter
the truth about why we lost. they are trying to keep or rather shield him and themselves from the brutal truth....We/Dems have lost the base because of the too many concessions made to the Right in the first 2 years.....and sadly now he/they will make even more concessions instead of less.... because they don't get it!

When Pres. Obama returns from this India trip (in what is it, 10 days?) things will have calmed down quite a bit and the MSM will have exhausted itself in the aftermath of the election.....and the corporate pigs will get what they have worked so hard to gain ... Bush's tax cuts made permanent and the dismantling/destruction of the Healthcare reforms.

Yes that's right folks, We BLEW IT! We were given the mandate in 08 with both houses and the Oval Office to get the job - for we the people - done and WE FUCKING BLEW IT!

I am hoping that we might keep in reserve just a smidgen of our outrage along with a tad of our energy so that President Obama and what remains of our Congress critters, will hear at least a whisper of what we are saying when they return.... psst....We want you to let the Bush Tax Cuts EXPIRE!!!

:hurts:

NO, I AM NOT SAYING IT'S A CONSPIRACY!

I AM NOT AN IDIOT...YES I DO KNOW THAT THIS TRIP WAS PLANNED LONG AGO.

2. Sure. This trade mission trip was a last-minute thing, you bet.
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 09:10 AM by MineralMan
This trip was carefully scheduled to begin after the election and end as the lame duck Congress begins its work. You may have noticed the dates of the trip. That was planned long, long ago.

Actually, the President is out doing his job, promoting American exports and building alliances. That's what President's do. Nobody's keeping him from anything. He knows full well what happened, and will be back shortly to push the lame duck congressional session into getting things done. Right now, he's doing some other business that Presidents do.

Nobody's controlling President Obama nor keeping any information from him. That's just silly. Unrecommended for that reason.

20. How does this trip affect that? How does Keith Olberman affect
that? Believe me, he's thinking about those issues on a daily basis, and trying to put together something that will get through the lame duck Congress. I'm betting that he doesn't even have any idea what Olberman's position is on those tax cuts. His concerns are far broader than what some guy on MSNBC is saying. What he wants is for those tax cuts to remain in place for middle class Americans. The question is only about what to do to make that happen. Will he compromise? I don't know. We'll find out, though. This trip has nothing to do with any of that.

The President was not "whisked away." You simply do not understand how this works. As I said, your OP was based on silliness.

9. No, I haven't missed the point at all. Nobody was "whisked away."
That was your point. You believe, for some unknown reason, that President Obama is being kept from having information. That's just silly. The President of The United States has access to any information he cares to have. Nobody can keep information from the President. You seem not to know much about how these things work. The President is not "whisked away" by anyone. That does not occur. He is on a trade mission and a typical state visit to a part of the world that is important to us economically. Do you suppose he's not getting information while he's on that trip? Do you suppose he is not being briefed an any subject he wants briefings on? That's just naive. Sorry.

14. That's right. And no newspapers, either. They won't even let him
have a radio. Whoever the fuck "they" are.

He is the President of The United States, for pete's sake. Presidents are not "whisked away." Presidents are not "held" incommunicado. This was not a last minute trip. It was planned to take place precisely between the election and the session of the lame duck Congress. I call that timing ideal.

10. It's silly to say that he was "whisked away" ; the trip was planned a long time ago. I may
agree with part of what you say in the rest of the post, but please get real on why he made the trip.

This trip has been planned for months, and he has put off trip after trip to other places due to this country's needs so you are reading entirely too much into it.

19. Another point: About Keith Olberman
Do you really think that President Obama considers Keith Olberman's suspension as something important? Truly? Now, I don't doubt that he's aware that it happened, but I'm certain that he shrugged. Presidents don't concern themselves about the hiring and firing of MSNBC commentators. It's completely irrelevant to their job. Keith Olberman is watched by a million or two people daily. Most of them are on President Obama's side already. Olberman influences nothing with regard to the President and what he does or does not do.

While the Olberman situation is of concern and interest to us, he's not on President Obama's radar at all. Why would he be? The President is involved with international relationships at the moment, and export deals, and influencing the leaders of some pretty important countries in the world's economic and political situations. Keith Olberman pales in importance when compared to $20 billion aircraft orders and political dealings involving even more money and even a couple of wars. Keith Olberman does not matter when those issues are on the table. He doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of political issues here in the United States. He doesn't matter in how President Obama will be dealing with a recalcitrant House of Representatives in January. He doesn't matter when it comes to getting legislation passed during the lame duck session.

Keith Olberman doesn't matter to the President at all. He's just another talking head on a cable television network. Irrelevant almost completely to decisions on a Presidential scale. Seriously.

I love KO. I enjoy his commentary. He's not on TV right now. That's a crummy deal for him and for me. It is irrelevant to a President, though.

Is there anything that does not have to do with the President?

Now he's responsible for with Keith does, or what happens to Keith?

Put down the crack pipe.
