I DVR'D Rachel Last Night About Keith and something funny happened

.......I have like many of you COMCAST....at 5:28 into the segment about Keith's suspension at the end of the RM show the DVR just shut off any further recording...anyone else experience that as well...... It ha nver shut off with 1.30 minutes left normally with 10 seconds left...

1. Happens with us.

The DVR will often "forget" to record shows that I have set up as series recordings. Sometimes it will only record 10 minutes of something then stop. It's not a common occurance but it happens often enough for me to be annoyed.

Computers are complicated and sometimes glitches occur. :shrug:

2. Mine always cuts off the end of shows

and not just 10 seconds....I have stopped scheduling it by show and started going in manually and scheduling it by time, I just do it until like 10 minutes after the show is supposed to end. If the clock on whatever controls the scheduling on the dvr and the clock at msnbc or whatever network you are recording from don't have the same time it is bound to either go over or under.

4. You can set the DVR to get the whole show..

You can get the whole show if you set it to record from 5 up to 15 minutes after the scheduled ending. Yeah you'll get some extra but you'll get the whole show. That being said I have NOT been able to see MSNBC for the last two days - I've got Time Warner cable. The channel is just blank.

3. I believe Rachel went over 10 pm just a tad,

so your DVR might have shut off on time and missed the last few seconds of her comments. I had Real Time on a reminder, and the opening of Mahr's show as almost over before she finished. Could be why...

6. It happened to me, too.

Why? Because I didn't manually set the on and off time on the DVR. I just called up the program description and hit the record button, which meant it stopped recording precisely at 10 p.m. I rarely use the automatic programming feature because I've missed the last few minutes of shows because anymore shows run over by one or two minutes. I always manually set the on and off times for shows, generally 5 minutes before start and 5 minutes after end.

No conspiracies here, sorry.

8. the shows always go past the scheduled end time. don't know

why but i usually lose the very end. i think comcast's clock is 1/2 minute off. don't know why they are not synchronized to their own dvrs.

9. It's not a conspiracy.

It's the way your DVR is set. If you set it to automatically record, it will often cut off the last bit of a show. It happened to me all the time with all kinds of shows, until I figured out how to set it manually.

11. Too many times shows run over the time regardless of what cable or satellite channel.

Sometimes it's just a minute sometimes 5 minutes or more.

What I get irritated too is that shows after the late nite news start at 11:35 instead of 11:30.

It's no different when a sporting event goes over and whatever programming that follows is delayed. Especially on Sundays so that prime time shows start well after 8pm.
