The merger was also (briefly) mentioned in this testimony by Assistant AG - Antitrust Division, Christine Varney: http://www.justice.gov/atr/public/testimony/260809.pdf

I could not find her specific contact info, only this:

6. I found some good info here.
http://www.peoplesworld.org/comcast-nbc-merger-threatens-democracy/

"Mega mergers have a poor record of performing in the public's interest. Layoffs, higher prices, reduced local control and blocks to racial and gender diversity from ownership to workforce are the social and economic consequences, critics say.

The media industry is already heavily monopolized, with six giant corporations owning as much as 90 percent of everything Americans see, read, listen to and watch.

Media and access to information is basic to the functioning of a democratic society, Copps argued, and the Internet should not become the "province of gatekeepers and toll-gate collectors."

The commissioner asked: will this merger advance diversity and the public interest or just "curry favor with Wall Street marketeers?"

More at the link above. :hi:

"We do not need larger and fewer media conglomerates. Sylvio Berlusconi is proof that media monopolies benefit the few and the wealthy. Please, rule for the little guy and stop the Comcast/NBC merger before we become a truly corporate-controlled nation."

fingers crossed.

p.s. i resisted saying 'fascist' nation even though it seemed appropriate, as 'fascism' was an italian creation.

5. You left Joe "I'm sorry BP" Barton off the list. He now heads the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
He's going to "let the market decide" the further concentration of media power.

http://republicans.energycommerce.house.gov/News/PRArticle.aspx?NewsID=7648

Oh, by the way, take a look at his biggest contributors. Not too hard to figure out how this will go.

Elections have consequences. All of the most corrupt republicans are now heading the most critical committees.

How fantastic that so very many invested so much energy bashing the President and Dems. :sarcasm:

Feels a little like 2004 all over again. Just fan-f*cking-tastic!

Rant off.
