Gallup: Americans want new stimulus and not tax cuts or healthcare repeal
Hey Boner, it's the economy stupid.

Where are the jobs?

1. Boner is nothing but a corporate tool - he and the rest of them...
...only repeat lies about what "the people want" to try to fool they very people who don't want it.

2. Your post title isn't reflected in the posted poll
Other than that, though, I think they should start the practice of dividing up polls between "those making $1 million/year or more" and "everyone else." I think that would be much more useful (and telling.)

In spite of how the corporate media with its millionaire owners and personalities portray a "divide" between parties, the real divide is between monetary classes.

3. Unlike democrats, the republicans have good message control and
their base--just look at the above survey--will be looking for repeal of HCR and cutting the debt.

And even more unlike the democrats, the republicans will attempt to do what they've convinced their base is needed.

4. That's not true....
There is a major bi-partisan effort underway. As you pointed out, the Republicans will attempt to do what they've convinced their base is needed.

Democrats, as seen over the past many years will also attempt to do what Republicans have convinced their base is needed.

See? I don't know where people get the idea that things in Washington aren't bipartisan.

11. They have media. The problem with corporate Democrats like Obama is
that they seem to think that if they kowtow to big business enough, big business will favor them over the Republicans. But the Republicans are prepared to offer them outright fascists, or at least service that goes far beyond anything a Democrat can offer. The Republican base will cheer for things that a Democrat would have to do in a backroom, and water down. Things like massive tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation of business, etc.

8. Mo Money.
Dollars have been going to private schools, but it's not enough for them. They want the money from the poor old Seniors who are too senile to figure out that they're donating their SSN to Republican reckless schemes.

13. Did you even read the article? It says DEMOCRATS want a new stimulus, not AMERICANS
In fact, only 38% of national adults want a new stimulus, according to your own post.

15. Yes. It should have said MORE Americans
want that than anything else.

In fact, according to those figures most Republicans want to do nothing.

17. Misleading title
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 03:36 PM by Chatt
38% is not "Americans." It's a minority. Although I want a stimulus, I will not pretend that Americans in general are that smart.

It would be accurate to say that more people want a stimulus than a tax cut.

18. You're fighting a huge system if you want a new domestic stimulus
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 03:48 PM by OlympicBrian
Especially with more Republicans in Congress, pushing new spending on domestic stimulus programs will be extraordinarily hard. The funny part is this will serve as a litmus test for Republicans--if they don't follow the wishes of the American people, it will prove their true intentions. Let's say the Republicans continue to block anti-offshoring bills, in addition to blocking new spending on stimulus...

Representation of the Often-Untaxed Elite - The US Corporatocracy
(original 10/29, Dan S., Seattle)

"US corporatocracy" - the system of government that serves the interests of, and is essentially run by, corporations. It primarily seeks to further ties between government and business--where corporations, multi-national corporations, conglomerates, and private parties including political organizations and highly-paid corporate executives are the primary controls, and are the elite. Areas of control rely on direction and governance often tied to contrived (sometimes fearsome) mass-media visages of elements, ideas, and persons within the country. Within the corporatocracy, objective news reporting is hard to find. The system depends on highly-paid "pundits" for dissemination of major themes.
...
At the nucleus of the corporatocracy is a non-elected body, the US Chamber of Commerce. This powerful group, known mainly for its political attack ads, is extremely well-financed through mostly anonymous, sometimes foreign entities. It acts as a major focal point for corporations, with a distinct emphasis on the biggest. The Chamber is growing, becoming increasingly dominant in the corporate, media, political, election, legislative, and judicial spheres. It prefers foreign interests over US citizens, carrying an agenda aimed at offshoring US jobs--and tax breaks to corporations which do so. The Chamber also recently kicked off a campaign to change a law which prevents foreign corrupt practices.

Not surprisingly, in the corporatocracy, unemployment is high even during boom periods where corporate profits are rich and the stock market is high, because of a reliance on offshoring and offshore investment.
