GOP May EMPOWER Ron Paul To AUDIT The FED

Its funny, at the 2008 republican presidential debates, Ron Paul wasn't even on the political radar screen by candidates or the media. My, my, how times have shifted and changed.



" Republican Representative Ron Paul on Thursday said he will push to examine the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decisions if he takes control of the congressional subcommittee that oversees the central bank as expected in January.


"I think they're way too independent. They just shouldn't have this power," Paul, a longtime Fed critic, said in an interview with Reuters. "Up until recently it has been modest but now it's totally out of control."


Paul is currently the top Republican on the House of Representatives subcommittee that oversees domestic monetary policy, and is likely to head the panel when Republicans take control of the chamber in January.


That could create a giant headache for the Fed, which earlier this year fended off an effort headed by Paul to open up its internal deliberations on interest rates and monetary easing to congressional scrutiny.


Paul, who has written a book called "End the Fed," has been a fierce critic of the central bank's efforts to boost the economy through monetary policy.



"It's an outrage, what is happening, and the Congress more or less has not said much about it," he said.


Paul said his subcommittee would also push to examine the country's gold reserves and highlight the views of economists who believe that economic downturns are caused by bad monetary policy, not the vagaries of the free market.

Watch for Paul to either reverse course suddenly or just shut up about the Fed. If he doesn't play nice, he'd better stay out of small planes and feed a small sample of every meal to his dog before eating it himself.

If the fed is audited, the whole monetary system is liable to collapse. Not that I don't think it should be done, but I want everyone aware of what they are playing with.

The dems are aware of this, by the way, including Obama; they are too smart not to understand this.

Auditing the Fed will make it clear how much the monetary policy is run from outside the ocuntry, and it will make it quite plain that someone, somewhere is has been stealing gold reserves, or I will eat whatever hat I have on at the time. It will also make plain to all and sundry how much the current version of 'free enterprise' needs reigning in, and how much money the government is putting in to the system to keep it functioning.

I would also point out that it's time for a truly progressive tax system, with the people who take the most paying their fair share, and that includes those who own the most land. If the "American People" knew how much they were being shafted, the system would likely have to change.

engaging in liberal monetary policy. He wants to prevent the Fed from having any kind of monetary accommodation, which would destroy the American worker even more than they have already been destroyed.

Ron Paul is correct about exactly two things: The Federal Reserve, and US imperialism. I'd never vote for Republicans regardless, but if Boner & friends really wanted to increase their chances of getting the mushy middle in the next election, they'll turn Paul Sr. loose in these areas. And if he's successful, he'd probably pass it over to Paul Jr. in the senate. I like him even less than I do his old man, but if Rand agrees with his daddy in these two areas, more power to him.

As President Obama says, "if the Republicans have any good ideas, let's hear 'em". This may be one instance where that is actually possible
