Who ratted on Keith Olbermann? Hey media! There is part of your story ! KO's
contract is up in 2012. That is too long of a time to tie him up in silence. They might be able to deny him any work. I am pissssssssed off! And we should not under any circumstances let this die. Even when we get tired and they do nothing. We should not let it die!

1. Not sure anybody HAD to rat.
All that Politico intern would have to do would be to pull up the FEC website. She could just have been doing a search for big names in Tubeland.

2. Agreed
There are several sites which focus on the campaign donations of media people. It's all public record.

4. Some how I do not think that is how it came down. Politico is
best for attacks and not facts.

So KO's stood out????? Why not other people's contributions. Why the lurch to
make a point as one would have to be familiar with NBC's policy.

12. They haven't been filed yet.
He only gave them the money the Thursday before the last weekend before the elections.

Those "full disclosure" records don't have to be filed in some states until just before Christmas.

5. IMO there's a lot of people at MSNBC who don't like Keith Olbermann
One of them has a big yellow head, spits a lot when he talks and has man crushes on a lot of republican politicians.

If you're looking for who ratted him out, that's where I'd start. There appears to be a good bit of jealousy there.

7. He did it before
Sniveled to management about how Phil Donohue's anti war views were going to harm the network's bottom line and got Donohue canned. At a time when Donohue had the highest ratings of any MSNBC show.

I'm not saying he did or didn't do it. But he's apparently capable of it and he has a history of being a sneaky little rat bastard.

10. Wonder if there is a way to put pressure to get him to respond?
I want to know who is the trouble maker that allowed/started this.... this to happen.

9. I hate to sound racist but: an Indian at Politico did the Olbermann thing and an Indian paper did
the 200 million dollar a day Obama story. Broke it to Drudge.

Maybe the same person?

13. I may find it, it was in Huffington post and DU about both of the stories
I just thought it was unusual in one week both of these two weird stories pop up. Probably just one hell of a coincidence.

15. Here is one link for the India Times Part
http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2010/nov/04/michele-bachmann/rep-michele-bachmann-claims-obamas-trip-india-will/

"Due to security concerns, we are unable to outline details associated with security procedures and costs, but it’s safe to say these numbers are wildly inflated," said White House spokeswoman Kate Bedingfield.

Cooper asked Bachmann how she came up with the number.

"These are the numbers that have been coming out in the press," Bachmann said.

Actually it's a figure that came from just one source, a news agency in India, relying on an anonymous source. It was then repeated thousands more times in the blogosphere and over conservative airwaves.

The claim that the U.S. would be spending "a whopping $200 million per day" on Obama's visit to Mumbai, India, originated in a report from the news agency Press Trust of India. It was an estimate attributed anonymously to "a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit." Maharashtra is a state located in western India.

The journalist who broke the story that got Keith Olbermann suspended from MSNBC is a recent college grad who's been working in D.C. for less than six months..

Simmi Aujla was a member of Brown University's class of 2009. She joined the staff at Politico in May. On Friday morning, she exposed MSNBC host Keith Olbermann's campaign contributions to three Democratic candidates in Tuesday's election

14. No offense but.
Are you saying that you don't mind journalists/broadcasters to go on the air and interview candidates that they've donated to without disclosing it?

If it would have been someone on Fox News that did that you'd probably be calling for them to be fired.

18. I have high expectations for journalism. What I do not respect is
irregularities in whom one chooses to "suspend". I also believe that in these changing times, it is alright to give as a journalist. Yes, it is a bit close when one interviews someone BUT, Faux does it all the time and blatantly, others have supposedly done similar on their shows. I think a warning would have been sufficient and not taking advantage of the situation to "fire" someone. Yes.... I said "fire". They cannot say the word fire as he is on contract until 201 and they want him to not talk.
