Hell with the election, it's time to fire up "The War on Christmas".
I remember reading a story where some Christians were saying that the nativity scenes were actually not religious and were just symbols of Christmas, like Santa and Rudolph and therefore could be displayed anywhere. They based this on the fact that the nativity scenes are totally made up and not found in the bible. There is no mention in the bible of a stable or animals being there. This all came from the bible saying that a manger was used for an infant bed. So if you were born poor and your mother swaddled you and put you in a turkey roaster pan, well then you must of been born in a kitchen.

Anyway, I read that and I thought "Brilliant". I'm a secularist, but I thought it was an intelligent and fair argument. But of course it didn't get very far because too many Christians did not want to hear that the baby Jesus scene was just made up.

If you really want to get Christians fired up, stand in front of a Creche and say to your kid in a loud voice, "The bible clearly says that the wise men were not there".

So as the War on Christmas gets going this year, as it surely will, remember that people aren't defending their religion; they're defending their perception of their religion.

10. Someone put a Santa Hat on one of the pumpkins in the store last year.
I wished my cell phone had a camera on it when I saw that.

which wished people (among other things) a happy Winter Solstice. All the other greetings were A-Ok, but wishing Pagans a good season was right out.

My family received a lot of Gap that year.

3. Remember too . . .
That as it gets going, its warrior caste are not attacking Christianity, but doing their multicultural 'duties,' as it were. Sometimes mandated by law.

Can't say I care much either way. I'm an 'agnostic' on this one :)

January 6th is the day that Jesus became manifest before the Wise Men. When my kids were young, my son, being very astute, decided that if we were to exchange presents, then we must do it on January 6th. :-)

Our presents to each other now are the sharing of a story or movie...

Dissing Halloween the way they do makes me sick. I'm tempted to put Halloween decorations up for Christmas this year. I never usually decorate, but what can I say? They've inspired me to start the war on NEXT Christmas early.

Pittsburgh TV station. They reported that a certain street would be closed today so crews could set up the annual (Holiday Tree).
