If any $70 Billion lump were identified as off-setting the tax cut then there would be a direct comparison of utility/worth/desirability

The public supports the rich tax-cuts only t the degree they are considered a philosophical abstraction.

What cut could possibly be identified as federal money that would obviously much better be given to rich people?

Even if the NEA spent $70 Billion/year paying child molesters to defile crucifixes it still wouldn't be obvious that after cutting that unfortunate program the money should be given to rich people.

I suggest setting up booths on street corners and giving people the choice between a donut for them, or a $70 Billion/year tax cut for the rich.

Would probably move a lot of donuts.
