Let us not forget that when the Democrats tried to get their message out, the well oiled machine of
the right and teabaggers disrupted wherever they could. I am sure that method will be used again. It is time now to work on that never happening again. I still believe that most of Americans are not enthusiastic about Republicans. We just have to strategize and implement. What was lacking in the last election was a major organizer. We also need a major group to replace what we lost with ACORN. The elimination of ACORN was a part of their early strategy. WE can do this . We can do this. We can do this! But first, we need someone who is not afraid of them and can lead the DNC.

1. The Democrats were able to get a message out just fine during the election.
What happened?

4. I refer to more than the intensity of the last month before the election. Their plan to topple
democratic seats was a long term strategy. Yes, we did run a good campaign the closer we got to the election, but I am just saying that we need to throw their own tactics back in their faces. We have the power and the people to do it. They are weak manipulators and we can shut down that method of operation.

6. I was unclear, I meant Obama's election. I agree with you about strategy,
it seems fairly obvious, which is why it's surprising that's not the strategy that's been in place. Why?

11. the kids did`t vote and...
the adults could`t figure out how to get the message out to the people. the message has to be every dam day.

blaming the right wing media is a lazy excuse. the president and the leadership and we did`t sell the message as well as the rethugs did. . time to wake up a nail these bastards to the wall.

the progressives held up while the blue dogs fell...seems to me the progressives had the message this time.

gasoline went up 20ct yesterday...everyone in the gas station said blame it on the republicans....hell there`s something to do or say every day.

2. I vote for Alan Grayson for DNC chair! Enough with the moderate sh*t
It's time a real Progressive, who comes from a Repub district and knows these people, take his seat as DNC's chair.

I love your enthusiasm!

3. Strategize and implement? First, the Democratic Party needs to clean house and prioritize
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 04:26 AM by Catherina
It's telling that the small matters of wars and torture never even surfaced as an issue during this whole campaign. Instead we heard plenty about witchcraft and masturbation.

Now the party is outsourcing more jobs overseas. Brilliant.

We can't organize around bullshit. It won't fool anyone. People are too angry right now, rightfully so.

5. They definitely lacked a cohesive messsage and discipline, and
spent a lot of time REACTING to the Republicans, when they should have been controlling the narrative. I'm sorry to say they are still doing it - this "200 million a day" trip meme is more evidence that the Dems are not controlling the message.

9. I don't understand why the disrupter's at those
town hall meetings weren't thrown out on their butts. I don't understand why the Democrats don't get in "their face" they way they did. sanity and civility is not the way to handle the republicans. We have to stand toe to toe. I don't believe in violence. That would be ruled out. But I think we have Democrats in this country who are strong enough to stand up to the republicans. The thing is the Democrats in congress won't because they are afraid of losing their jobs. But look what being afraid of losing their jobs got a lot of them THEM LOST THEIR DAMN JOBS. So If you are going to lose the position in congress I am one who will go down fighting. I think if the Democrats did present more FIGHT, MORE GUTS, AND THE PEOPLE saw it they wouldn't have lost their jobs.

You can not sit back when republicans are around. We all know that they lie, they cheat, they manufacture crap, and they bully people. And the Democrats didn't stand up to that.

10. We cannot continuously make excuses. The Democrats were
in charge. If they wanted to get on TV and fight for
their beliefs and programs, they could get on TV.

If the Leaders are better behind the scenes on the
Hill they need to train surrogates to get on TV
to represent the Democratic Party.

13. Without ACORN
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 11:14 AM by oswaldactedalone
we're going to have to get voter registration, voter mobilization, and removal of barriers to voting on our own. The group that I'm starting in my county, "The Committee to Elect Democrats" is beginning that process now. None of us have ever held office, but we have gone into our community to register voters, give out voter guides, and polling place info. This is strictly a grassroots effort on our part, but limited only to our community due to lack of resources(time and money.)

You have to ask yourself, "What will you do to dramatically increase voter turnout in your area, and how will you dispense info, especially to low info voters, who haven't turned out in presidential years, much less mid-terms?"

We definitely have to find a way to combat the right wing noise machine, and messaging is a huge part of that, but the fact is, without voters all the messaging in the world won't matter. Become knowledgable about the voting rules in your state, the polling locations in your county, and as elections approach, get into your community and spread that info.

15. What message? I saw two messages.
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 11:17 AM by walldude
The first was for the "whiners". That message was SHUT THE FUCK UP. The second message was for the "followers" That message was "We don't suck as bad as they do".

There was no message, there wasn't even an attempt to win. The time to fix this isn't "now" the time was then. Now it's too late.
