1. We need Dean to challenge Obama in the primaries.
He won't, of course, but it would be nice for progressives to have someone to enthusiasticallyvote for for once.

3. ...so we could be SURE to lose in November!!!
:banghead:

LBJ in 1968. Ford in 1976. Carter in 1980. GHWBush in 1992. All four, sitting Presidents hit with a serious primary challenge by their own party. End result: each time, the opposing party won the White House.

4. I know what you say is true but maybe times are different enough now
to support a challenge. I think not to challenge will bring defeat anyway....as much as I hate stating that.

11. Aren't you the cheerful one this morning! THAT was my point.
I'll spell it out for you. I KNOW the tactic and result has, in the past, been the same HOWEVER, the people are experiencing a different America today and the results MIGHT be different plus the notion that I don't think President Obama, if he contiues in the way he has, will be electable anyway.

13. Sorry I don't buy the 'results might be different' BS
That's what is always said but in the end the result is the same and we get a GOP president.

25. So what you're saying is that it's insane to repeat a strategy that has failed in the past....
...expecting different results?

I agree. So tell President Obama to quit trying to replicate that whole DLC triangulation mess that was a miserable failure in the 1990's.

33. You mean the one that led to the biggest
peacetime expansion on the economy in history, low unemployment, a balenced budget and a two term Deomcratic president leaving office with the highest approval ratings of any other president?

34. No, I mean the one that
Passed NAFTA and a bunch of other bullshit "free" trade agreements that killed millions of American jobs.

Passed the 1996 "Telecommunications Act" which made FAUX Noize and Clear Channel's dominance of radio a reality.

Repealed the Glass Steagal act which led directly to the current financial disaster in this country.

Clinton wasn't responsible for the 1990's technology "bubble". Just happened to be lucky enough to be the guy in office when it happened. Might have had a positive effect on the economy longer if his shitty trade policies didn't make it easy to offshore most of those jobs out of the country.

His tax rate on tax dodging millionaires and billionaires was more reasonable than that of the Chimp though. I'll give him credit for that much. That's one area where Obama SHOULD take the hint.

5. No democratic president can make change in a fascist country
Didn't it seem a little odd how MSM went along with gbush for 8 years? And a democrat is immediately suspect and fair game? Think about it. We need to change the structure of this country before WE can have change. The structure is fascist. The elections are a joke. Electronic voting machines are easily hackable.

16. The Repubs. have a tremendous advantage in that 90% of the
news media are owned by them. For decades they have been able to brain-wash
the American people, so that today half, or more, of them can be made to believe
that lies are the truth. Repubs. have been using the news media as a weapon,
and a powerful one it is. Even with fewer numbers, the Repubs. have been able
to hold their own.

Dems. should concentrate on increasing the news media they own, and fight the
Repubs. with the truth.

30. No, we need Dean to surgically implant a backbone into Obama.
We need Dean to make sure everybody around Obama and the voters in ALL 50 STATES are fired up. Dean's presence would give us progressives something to hope for. I just wish the inside-the-Beltway assholes would pay him more heed.

2. Seems as if it were a least a hundred years ago when a man named
Howard Dean appeared on the national radar.....I really liked him then and I still do. He walked his talk. He had done healthcare in VT, not just talked about doing it. I don't know when I'll learn: Pay attention to what people do (have done) rather than just what they say. We need Dean to head the Democratic party. imho

8. By that logic then maybe Mitt Romney should be president
because he pushed through healthcare reform in Mass. Plus Vermont's healthcare reform happened in 2006, years after Dean left that state.

10. As Governor, Howard Dean did a lot for healthcare (children and pregnant women)
and,I think, can be accredited with getting the ball rolling with the implementation of that program. I contend that had it not been for his efforts VT might not be enjoying the reform of 2006. He DID something.

As far as ol' Mitt goes, I hope he runs...he's a lackluster candidate.

in the name of balancing the budget, just like a republican, and sealed his records for twice the usual amount of time. Makes you wonder what he is hiding.

26. You know of course that you need links to provide info. Also, with DFA, it's all about who shows up
to DO the work, so along with those links, you also need proof that Liberals provided equal numbers of worker-bees and dollars and they got shut down by DFA.

I'll be waiting for this information.

31. We need Democrats to stop regarding what happens as somekind of social spectator sport and
get out there, 24/7/365 EVERY year, in any and every way possible to do the WORK of organizing and to get the message out and to be candidates or REALLY commit to candidates.

Been there/Seen it for decades: Too many chiefs, and spectators, in this party and not-just-a-few of us worker-bees are just about completely fed up AND we're gettin' old, so we're not going to be around a whole lot longer. Then who'll knock on your doors for you and person your phone-banks?
