here we go: GOP to attack health care law 'piece by piece'

WASHINGTON — As they seek to make good on their campaign promise to roll back President Obama’s health care overhaul, the incoming Republican leaders in the House say they intend to use their new muscle to cut off money for the law, setting up a series of partisan clashes and testing Democratic commitment to the legislation.

Republicans, who will control the House starting in January but will remain in the minority in the Senate, acknowledge that they do not have the votes for their ultimate goal of repealing the health law, the most polarizing of Mr. Obama’s signature initiatives.

But they said they hoped to use the power of the purse to challenge main elements of the law, forcing Democrats — especially those in the Senate who will be up for re-election in 2012 — into a series of votes to defend it.

Republican lawmakers said, for example, that they would propose limiting the money and personnel available to the Internal Revenue Service, so the agency could not aggressively enforce provisions that require people to obtain health insurance and employers to help pay for it. Under the law, individuals and employers who flout the requirements will face tax penalties.

6. I don't dispute that....

It's the democrats who are more than willing to help them either by taking their side altogether, or in some ways worse caving in to them before they can even be bothered to put up a fight that I was talking about.

My point wasn't that the Republicans didn't want to do this. I know they do. My point is that whenever any scenario revolves around testing Democrat's fortitude and commitment to their ideals I know to prepare myself for disappointment.

But does anyone honestly believe that if they were as play-it-safe, and non confrontational, and as conciliatory, and as weak-willed as they were with sizable majorities in both houses that they are going to be MORE bold and strong now with a minority in the house and a razor thin majority in the Senate? Definitely not in the Senate with Reid still in charge.

9. What a waste

The health care law already specifically states that there is no enforcement for not paying the mandated taxes. So of course they want to waste time changing the law to do something it already does.

10. Basically, we have half the country and a major party that doesn't ...

intend to pay their share of the cost of government. I don't believe the Republican controled house will be able to come up with one spending bill, except to go to war. How that leaves the Health reform bill is to be determined, but I have little hope the voting Americans will get the story straight and realize what these Republicans really stand for.

13. Instead of backing off the Democrats have got to

FIGHT. One time they have got to get the message out to the public about what this health care bill does for some Americans. Granted it could have been better. But it is a godsend for a lot of people and the republicans don't care that they would take away a life line. All they want to do is undermine Obama and the Democrats. And they would, kill off thousands and make millions of Americans homeless because they can't pay the medical bills.

I can not for the life of me understand how any Democrat or Independent group voted for this hate filled America ruining republicans. Damn I hope these idiots that voted for them wake up before it is too late. And most of all I wish we could get a reliable voting system. Because regardless of what any one thinks I do not trust a lot of the votes that were "supposed" to be cast for the republicans.
