C&L: Rs Duck And Cover On Spending Cuts
This week, Republicans swept to power by promising to cut, in the words of Indiana's Mike Pence, "runaway federal spending." But when it comes to putting taxpayers' money where their mouths are, Pence, incoming Speaker John Boehner, future Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Michele Bachmann and much of the cowardly GOP's top-brass refuse to say what budget cuts they will actually make. And now to add insult to injury, many of the leading lights of the Republican Party are waiting for recommendations from President Obama's deficit commission, a panel whose creation they opposed.

For months, Republicans have refused to "man up" to the draconian budget cuts their tough-talking campaign pledges would necessarily require. Pressed by NBC's David Gregory last month, Mike Pence could not "name the painful choice on a program that you're going to cut." Asked seven times by Chris Wallace of Fox News, failed GOP California Senate hopeful Carly Fiorina responded only, "you're asking a typical political question." Even as he touted the "GOP Pledge to America," Speaker-to-Be Boehner dodged Wallace as well:

Let's not get to the potential solutions. Let's make sure Americans understand how big the problem is. Then we can talk about possible solutions and then work ourselves into those solutions that are doable.

1. Kasich achieved the Ohio Governor's seat, despite giving any details
about what he would cut (he already promised to cut taxes ... there goes the funding ... he's facing $8 bil in deficits already ... Ohio ... meet bankruptcy), let alone what he got in bonuses for all the Wall Street loans he secured.

So much for the Republicans being more "open and honest" than Dems ... what do you expect from a bunch of loonies who, after decrying the corruption in Washington, invited convicted felon James Traficant to their rallies ...

2. They haven't named any, they CAN'T name any.
POTUS HAS said that if we accept his proposed 'freeze' on spending for 10 years (I think; correct me if I'm mistaken) we'll be a long way toward where we should be.

Problem is their propaganda machine and their quest for power are so strong that we have HUGE hurdles to breach. We need a chief financial officer and powerful voices. POTUS and VPotus are good, but we should find someone/s to broadcast OUR GAME and their b.s., EARLY and OFTEN, starting now.

3. Fucking electorate put them in charge despite the fact
that they couldn't name a SINGLE GODDAMN THING they'd cut spending for.

4. More of the same, we've seen since Obama came into office
I guess , I'm not the only one to notice lip service without any sound or promising tangible plan for implementation. Remember the Rep no-numbers national budget report they were so thrilled about presenting in March 2009?
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2009/03/26/4423669-a-gop-budget-with-no-hard-numbers
First Read - A GOP budget with no hard numbers

House Republicans release a 19-page document that contains no hard spending numbers or deficit projections.
and again in June, 2009

House GOP Leaders Outline Health Care Plan
http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2009/06/house-gop-unveils-healthcare-reform-outline.html
ABC News' Dean Norland reports:

House Republicans unveiled an outline of their healthcare reform plan at a Capitol Hill news conference Wednesday.
The broad-stroke plan, given to reporters as a three-and-a-half page summary, lacked details or a cost estimate.

So Boehner...what spending cuts? Bring it on real, but make it short and make it contain numbers and explanations and implementation strategies. Because if it's too long and detailed, then Baggers and Reps will think it's a nepharious plan to swindle and introuduce lies. Stuck bwetween a rock and a hard spot? I think this deficit reduction and economic plan MUST be detailed and outlined and posted on a site everyone can access.
