If its not too pricey we may have him string up a few lights around here this year.

Smart guy. Been wondering for while why someone hasn't started doing this?

1. That's been around for decades. I remember my dad considering it over 30 years ago.
My mom made him get up on the ladder because she didn't want to pay some guy a few bucks to do it. This was at the same time that she was bitching at him about not getting enough done around the house and not making enough money even though he was working about 15 hours a day. The value of one's own time is a valid consideration in deciding whether to "do it yourself" or "hire someone else".

No shock, I'm sure, but my dad is a Democrat and my mom is a Republican (and pretty much a teabagger now).

2. good idea -
I just passed it on to an acquaintance who's a "window washer". He has all the ladders, isn't afraid of heights, and is insured AND - - - he could use the extra money.

Though taking down in WI can sometimes have to wait until SPRING!

4. Lots of small business people do this here in Los Angeles.
Business is down with the bad economy, but it's still a good way to make a seasonal buck.
