Senator Lindsey Graham Urges War With Iran, Confrontation With China
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 12:57 PM by DearAbby
HALIFAX, Canada — The United States faces a possible war with Iran to curb its nuclear ambitions and a "period of confrontation" with China over its currency, a top US lawmaker warned Saturday.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said his fellow conservative, fresh from their historic elections romp this week, support "bold" action to deal with Iran.

If President Barack Obama "decides to be tough with Iran beyond sanctions, I think he is going to feel a lot of Republican support for the idea that we cannot let Iran develop a nuclear weapon," he told the Halifax International Security Forum.

"The last thing America wants is another military conflict, but the last thing the world needs is a nuclear-armed Iran... Containment is off the table."

The South Carolina Republican saw the United States going to war with the Islamic republic "not to just neutralize their nuclear program, but to sink their navy, destroy their air force and deliver a decisive blow to the Revolutionary Guard, in other words neuter that regime."

He spoke just days before expected nuclear talks will see US and Iranian officials sitting at the same table for discussions on Tehran's nuclear drive. The two countries have lacked diplomatic ties since the Iran hostage crisis of 1979.

2. He's just trying to win votes
He's one of them moderate pubbies who has to act tough to get votes.

And, yes, two wars are not enough for these vampires.
Why do you think our military budget is so humongous?
We don't buy weapons for peace. We buy them so we can draw blood.

5. Of course the right wants this
And they know if Obama goes along it would pretty much kill any chance he has of winning in 2012! His base would not be there to support such a move, and would take it out on him and the democrats in congress come 2012! These morons are so obvious!

7. I'm sure this will shock EVERYONE
We've already seen the agenda that the Republicans will push:

1) Endless investigations.
2) Tax cuts for the elite of the wealthy
3) More wars
4) Constant attacks on social programs including Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

And now Cantor has states explicitly that they plan to hold the US government hostage unless they get everything that they want.

11. Time for a Draft or a bigger contract with Blackwater?????
These war-hawks don't give a damn and haven't a clue as to what has happened to our military and actual defense of our country. Lindsay Graham served as a lawyer.....sitting in an office, at a desk and doesn't know the meaning of actual battlefield fighting. John McCain spent most of his service as a POW, only after losing several planes while showing off/hotdogging for girlfriends and buddies.....he rolled that into a 100% disability, while at the same time serving as a full-time Senator??? They along with our toy soldier Generals who playact the role of leading troops, while actually screwing them in the process only know what is happening on the cocktail/lobby circuit in DC and only fight to keep their power.

10. What election romp? He's a Senator
These republican asshats think they sweeped the whole damn congress? Last time I checked, we still had control of the Senate and the Presidency. For the overwhelmingly most part, the republicans swept out the DINO's in this election. If these morons think they have some sort of mandate, they are sorely mistaken.
