I'd like to see another progressive Democrat run for leader instead of Pelosi
I'm thinking of George Miller (D-CA) or perhaps Nita Lowey (D-NY).

I like Pelosi, but however unfairly, she has become polarizing due to an onslaught of negative ads all over the nation. It is time to start over.

Having said that, please understand that I believe if the choice comes down to Pelosi vs. Health Shuler, I am fully for Pelosi. Health Shuler's Blue Dog crap is fine if that is what is needed in western North Carolina, but not as the leader of our party.

1. I want Pelosi because they've been declaring her politically dead
talking about her resigning from Congress, etc.

And they've been selling a narrative about the 2010 election. Putting Pelosi back there would be a clear signal that the Demorats are not buying that narrative.

2. Dems can elect whoever they want
The more polarizing, the better. Who cares what Repugs think?

18. Bravo.. She delivered on the public option, Killed trade give aways.
The Republicans ran a sexist, vulgar attack ad campaign against her.. Remember such phrases as pu*sy Pelosi.. Yes. Pu*sy Pelosi.. We can't validate their lies by giving into them.. Attacking her hair style is not legitimate and stupid idiots fall for their vulgar attacks. We need keep her for that alone.. I predict as House Democratic Leader make us proud and give the goobers heart burn.
. Eugene Robinson's views on Pelosi...There is an internet petition out there to Keep Pelosi Leader. I signed..

think she should stay, just to rub their noses in it.

5. Who would you like to see there?
I've had issues with Pelosi (and Reid), as have many others on this board, but she HATES the repubs.

6. I'm with you totally, they spent about a zillion dollars to demonize
Pelosi. Move on and make them spend it on someone new.

10. They'll spend millions demonizing every Democrat, labeling them Liberals
so it doesn't matter who we put forward. They'd call Heath Schuler a Liberal, and he's anything but.

To give in to their demonizing is to admit defeat, and who can respect anyone who capitulates so easily.

Madam Speaker should stay in defiance of all those millions spent to demonize her, and we should support her.

8. She's only polarizing because the righties made her so
and that's more reason NOT to replace her. We'd otherwise look even weaker in the minds of ill-informed America as it is.

No. Pelosi should and will stay as Leader. I, for one, won't bend my head to the GOP and their megaphones, the American corporate propaganda machine.

She should be rewarded richly for her temerity and courage. She is one in a million and I want her right where she wants to be.

13. What utter crap.
Oh yes any disagreement with the vaunted Pelosi must mean sexism, there can of course be no legitimate disagreements.

14. I actually suggested Nita Lowey as an alternative
and I stipulated that in a Pelosi-Shuler race, I would fully back Pelosi.

16. Presiding over a 60+ seat loss. Mission Accomplished!
Yea, she did just great.

House Democrats need a new face if we are to take back the majority next cycle.

17. You are blaming Pelosi for the loss?
Really?

You are pointing a finger at the wrong person. Do you think we won't notice what you are doing?

19. So would I.
Simply because I'd like to see a leader that will support and defend the Constitution when necessary, and Pelosi has proven that she's not that leader.

George Miller? No fucking way. All great Neptune's oceans will not wash him clean of his NCLB stains.

I'd say Grayson, but he won't be there. Kucinich. Jim McGovern. Linda Sanchez. Pete De Fazio. Dozens more, all who would be better than George Miller.

20. As long as it's a progressive Democrat, I'm alright with it
I respect Pelosi, and tend to favor her. But a Miller type would be just fine as well.

I won't support Shuler for party leadership though. It's one thing to do what you have to do to win election, but I don't want him to become a leader because of it.

23. I'm torn...I'd like to shed the negative impact, but I don't want to give in to the GOP again.
They set the agenda every time, through their total control of the media. Pelosi has been an incredibly effectual leader of the House, but her name is poison...because the GOP said it was. And we never fought back. I hope one day we will.
