A Progressive classic movie must see on TCM tonight: Metropolis

P.S. I'm calling this movie Progressive for thematic noblese oblige displayed in the protagonist, Freder Frederson's, character.

1. Is it the original silent version or the remastered one with soundtrack from the Eighties?

2. A remastered one is running on TCM tonight right after this one.
Have you ever seen the Georgio Morodor version? It has Freddy Mercury, Adam Ant, Pat Benetar and others dubbed into the sound-track. Used to be able to rent it. CANNOT find it anywhere now.

7. Awesome song! - very cool sound-track!! Impossible to find . . .
Though I did buy an entire boxed-set of Pat Benetar (with some artistic reservations) for a somewhat different version of that heart-rending love theme from Metropolis: Hearts on Fire.

3. I am so excited about this.. I have never seen the movie..just outtakes
and bits and pieces.. like the giant clock.. or the men in black in that depressing same step walk as some go one way and some another.. and the idea this is the entire movie as it was originally intended just makes it that much better

9. You'll be reminded of how often the imagery have been borrowed by others.

12. You are absolutely right.
I didn't have as much appreciation of classic films when I was in college, but I'm often grateful now that I managed to see as many as I did back then because so much of what was depicted in classic films has become icons of our culture. :)

8. More DLC than progressive
The ultimate message of the film is that capital and labor should have a hug-fest.

A great film for a zillion reasons other than the script.

10. Yes, I was trying to get at that. I called it Progressive, because, since Tuesday's vote, I, like
Lawrence O'Donnell, have decided to drop the ruse and own up to being a Liberal.

No offense intended . . . :hi:
