So, the Heritage Foundation is advising Texas Republicans to opt out of Medicaid as a way to ease their $25 billion budget shortfall wracked up under spendthrift GOP Governor Rick Perry. The right wing think tank claims that the second most populous state in the union can save
almost $10 billion a year if it stops paying its part of Medicaid. Of course, the feds would stop sending Texas $12-15 billion a year in matching funds. But hey, what’s not to like about slashing the state budget by $10 billion without having to cut corporate welfare, which is handed out in the form of (unnecessary) public works projects, tax abatements and bad investments of the State’s Teachers Retirement Fund money?
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/07/us/politics/07ttmedicaid.html?_r=1 I can just imagine the discussion among GOP big wigs.
Damn pests! All they do is eat up our savings with their school lunches and teachers’ salaries and new clothes every year! Dirty, snotty nosed little brats! The state would be much better off without them! Oh yeah, baby! Let’s hear it for the adults only state of Texas!
Sarcasm aside, for those folks who do not know much about Medicaid, here are some facts:
Seventy percent of the enrollees in the Texas Medicaid program
are children !
There is
no one in the program who is not either 1) a child, 2) pregnant, 3) elderly or 4) disabled.
http://www.hhsc.state.tx.us/medicaid/reports/PB7/BookFiles/The%20Medicaid%20Numbers.pdfIn addition to all those freeloading children eating up our tax dollars with their frivolous health care----
A bout of tetanus never hurt any child!----harlots are costing the state big time. You know, those girls who could not keep their legs together. Those Jezebels expect tax payers to pick up the bill to pay for their prenatal vitamins (to prevent spina bifida) and their prenatal visits (to prevent preemie births) and their STD screening (to prevent HIV, Hep B and other infected babies)----
Have they no shame?! Who wants their misbegotten progeny? Not the state of Texas. Forgot about expedited Medicaid enrollment for pregnant women.
http://www.hhsc.state.tx.us/medicaid/mc/proj/preg/preg.html In the leaner, meaner state of Texas, it will be cheaper to abort that baby. Last year, Texas paid for 170,000 pregnancies.
http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/famplan/tpp.shtmIf conservatives have their way, next year, those 170,000 new lives will be flushed down the drain. Wow! That will more than double the number of abortions that are performed in the state each year. Talk about a growth industry.
Any women who does not feel like getting herself down to Abortions R Us for a quick vacuum extraction will just have to suffer the consequences if her baby is born premature with birth defects. The state will
not be picking up the bill for its Neonatal ICU care and its ongoing medical problems.
Oh, and granny who had the stroke so she had to move to a nursing home? She will be out on the street to die, pronto. Texas spends about $2 billion a year to allow the elder to live out their remaining---profitless---years in comfort and dignity. Filthy old leeches! Where is a good ice flow when you need one?
I can not imagine why the right wing did not make this their
number one campaign promise in the weeks leading up to the midterm elections. Let's hear it for good, old family values like infanticide and mercy killings!
