• The Republican Party is all about taking the deficit/debt seriously. (according to them)
• Since George W. Bush was sworn in in 2001 until today the government has done exactly one thing to reduce our long-term debt: "Obamacare."
• The top priority of the Republican Party is to undo that.

Which was what increased deficits more than any other thing.
