4. I don't know
I think it is fair to blame the republicans for anything that we want.
They have never thought about what is fair or right.

22. You are correct, and I fear it will get worse.
http://blogs.barrons.com/stockstowatchtoday/2010/11/04/bernanke-qe2-is-about-boosting-stocks/

But Fed money printing has helped lift stock prices, especially since late August when Bernanke started to broach the idea of further securities purchases. Since then, the S&P 500 is up better than 15%. That has indeed lifted the wealth of those well-off enough to own equities and has bolstered their spending, as the Fed chief writes.

He also insists that the expansion of Fed liquidity won’t be inflationary, calling concerns about the risks to QE2 “overstated.” But nowhere does Bernanke mention the effect of the Treasury purchases on the dollar, which is spilling over into commodity prices. Gold has surged and is closing in on its peak of $1381 an ounce while crude oil is up another $1.50 past $86 a barrel.

So, what the Fed is giving to equity portfolios, it is draining from the wallets of those who have to pay up at the gas pump.

And I expect to see them higher. Don't forget Groceries are going up too. They say because corn crop was not good as expected this year. I say someone has to pay for 800 million dollars worth of Advertising and deal cutting for the election of November 2, 2010 Prince Republican Choir of Congress!!!

6. It has been going up in the last few weeks.
My husband mentioned it a few weeks ago. So this is not just post-election.

12. Up 20 cents and down 5 cents and then up again.
Gas prices get people riled up. Here we have town bus service but none at night. No other mass transportation. People drive.

on a Prius and have snow tires ready to mount in another week or so, so I can live with the hit in going from 18-20 mpg to 45-61. I don't relish paying more for gas, but I fear if it doesn't go back up, nothing will be done for rational energy policy (and anything done to date will be rolled back).

13. Fits the theory
They went down right before the election in 04 and 06 and 08 to remind you that Republicans are wonderful. It is only logical they go up in 10 to remind you Democrats are bad.

15. This, it happens pretty much after every single election.
More people are driving to visit relatives, so they pump up the price to rake in a couple extra bucks from consumers.

18. Oh FCOL, the price of oil was rising before the election. The price in
gas is a reflection of those increases.

Jesus Christ how many times have I tried to explain the situation with oil on this site? Yet no one listens.

BP disaster in the Gulf. People here in the US have short memories and shit for brains.

But wouldn't the "logical" thing have been for the gas companies to raise prices before the election as a way of promoting repub candidates?

Which explains oil prices, which explain gas prices.
