Thom Hartmann: 'When I walked out of the theatre after watching
Fair Game I was thinking Karl Rove should be tried for treason and hung by the neck until dead."

Wow! He went on to say that although he doesn't advocate for the death penalty, that is how he felt about Rove. And he said that by the look on the faces of others leaving the theatre, he wasn't the only one thinking that.

2. Probably the prez's biggest failure
Edited on Mon Nov-08-10 02:02 PM by Doctor_J
I think the 60 million who worked for him in 2008 really wanted him to try to clean the stench out of DC. Sending Rove to the gallows and handing Cheney & Rumsfeld over to the Iraqis would have been terrific rallying points for government clean-up.

Edit: Actually all Obama would have had to do is open up investigations and hold televised hearings. The move toward execution of the offenders would have been organic.

Congrats to Thom

9. And so, because we want to avoid frivolous investigations of Obama
we are to not investigate REAL crimes by Bushco, and particularly Rove?

Is that what you're saying?

28. He will learn the meaning of IRONY
Obama is going to learn the meaning of the word irony in a very big way when the Rethuglicans impeach him.

11. I think it's in its first run now
But really, all this lookin' backwards to the past, when we should be lookin' forward to the future! Do Democrats really want to run the risk of politicizing political decisions? Wouldn't this open the door to all kinds of Republican mischief? Can't we all just let the other guy have his run of governance once installed in office? I mean, the Republicans haven't launched any investigations into the Obama administration, and his term is nearly half over. Let's let bygones be bygone.

Right?

14. Right! (sarcasm)
I feel showered in :sarcasm: !!!

If someone had a loved one murdered they don't just say "Oh well, that was yesterday and this is today. I don't want to look backward.". If a family has a daughter abducted they don't say that's in the past and just forget about her.

The justice department should have been unleashed on all the criminals in the Bush crime wave. And there should have been convictions and long imprisonments for murderous, sociopathic thugs like Rove, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft and the rest of the mob that brought us to war on lies, killed hundreds of thousands and used torture. It's mindboggling to think these war criminals will never be punished for their crimes against mankind.

16. My pleasure
And yes, I'm sick to my heart that these crimes are just being glossed over as if nothing untoward has happened. I don't know how the current administration, former House majority and present Senate majority got talked into leaving these shenanigans not just unprosecuted, but even uninvestigated. The prevailing sentiment seems to be "we don't want to know." Well, somebody somewhere knows, and there are a lot of righteously angry people who have been victimized. They're going to want justice, and they'll hate us not so much for our freedoms, but because we didn't have the belly to see justice done.

When the survivors and their sympathizers come to us - and they will - looking for some kind of expiation for these crimes, they may not be quite so careful about the niceties of judicial due process or even getting the actual perpetrators. They may be satisfied with visiting a little vengeance on whatever targets they're able to reach. I hope nobody minds having to pay for the sins of the Bush administration because the people we selected to take care of that decided it was just too much bother, or because they were afraid of exposing their own complicity, or because they didn't want to "politicize" all these political maneuverings.

26. He has "Buy Gold Now" commercials . . .
because no one in the ForProfitOnly media industry has figured out a way to do talkradio advertising WITHOUT "BuyGoldNow" ads, and ads for vaccuum cleaners that pick up bowling balls and ads for herbal erection enhancers and ads for "natural" baldness cures and ads for Swedish mattresses and Bose Wave radios.

Those items are the stock-in-trade of the right-wing radio industry and the people who syndicate Thom also syndicate wingnuts, so it's strictly one-size-fits-all where the syndicators are concerned.

The problem lies in the fact that all those products (with the possible exception of the Bose thingy) are bullshit hustles. Wingnut listeners are stupid enough to purchase them. Liberals, generally, are not. As such, the advertising does little good on liberal programs which, in turn, means the syndicator makes less money on liberal talk than on wingnut talk.

There has been next to no effort whatsoever to identify the kind of advertiser who would be a good "fit" for liberal talk radio. Why would a right-wing syndicator even want or need to do that? After all, the over-arching purpose for these groups is ALWAYS to "prove" that liberal talk doesn't work. Working from the wingnut model makes the proof all the more easy.
