Panetta says CIA will probe WikiLeaks document release
By: SARA A. CARTER
National Security Correspondent
11/08/10 5:35 PM EST
CIA Director Leon Panetta said the agency’s Office of Security will “fully investigate” the WikiLeaks documents released on a public web site. “In some cases, CIA sources and methods have been compromised, harming our mission and endangering lives,” he said.

In an internal memo, released to the media Monday, the director said that sharing information “cannot extend beyond the limits set by law and the ‘need to know’ principle.  The media, the public, even former colleagues, are not entitled to details of our work.”

Panetta added that the leaks had potentially done “incredible damage to our nation’s security and our ability to do our job of protecting the nation. More importantly, it could jeopardize lives.  For this reason, such leaks cannot be tolerated.”

1. Panetta really can spice up a stinking load of trite BS!

The only people who were not aware, and due to the death of journalism in the USA-are overwhelmingly still unaware, of the details contained in the recent leaks are us, the American(US) citizens on the Federally mandated mushroom diet.

We are nourished by steaming compost and generally kept in the dark!

The federales are also steaming now that they have had to suppress the information contained in the leaked documents so that we would stay uninformed about what atrocities are being perpetrated IN OUR NAMES. That's me, and probably you too! We are morally responsible for allowing the horrors to begin, and to continue with little controversy or impeding activity from us.

Not to benefit us though, oh no! The beneficiaries of our blood and tears and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis, are our greedy corporate masters who pull Panetta's strings to make him dance through obscured truth and brutal, ugly reality.

Blaming the wikileaks organization for the results of our willful killing and infrastructure destruction shows the sort of chutzpah a charlatan uses on a bamboozled, limited knowledge, audience. That's most of the citizens of America(US).

Our planetary empire is bound to come tumbling down pretty soon. It is unsustainable, and more and more, the truth is seeping out and into the consciousness of all but the most cement-headed citizens. The rest of the world has an acute understanding about who we are and what horrors we have created in furtherance of our master's perfidious, dominating, exploitive goals.

5. Does this mean the CIA has been ignoring the leaks?
And that now they will start an investigation?

7. The CIA and the DOJ will continue to go after anything that allows
the citizens of the US (the people in the world that know the least about US government actions) from being informed. So yes, they are protecting "methods" from disclosure to Americans. That would endanger "their" security from domestic knowledge.

10. I hope the lawyer for the young man accused...
...of leaking the documents, countersues on the grounds that 95% of the classified materials should never have been classified in the first place, and that some of those documents were classified specifically to cover up war crimes.

Not that I think it will happen. But still.
