Calling Obama's Trip to Indonesia a Homecoming

What do members of DU think about certain network reporters calling President Obama's trip to Indonesia a homecoming? At least one reporter on CBS's news shows has been saying that President Obama's trip to Indonesia is somewhat of a homecoming in that he lived there for a few years when he was a child. A few other reporters may have said the same thing. In addition, a number of print reports have used similar headlines.

Since the first time I heard that statement I have thought it was inaccurate. Can President Obama's trip really be called a homecoming? I always thought a homecoming was supposed to be when someone returned to their home. Dictionary.com defines homecoming as "a return to one's home; arrival at home". Wikipedia defines homecoming as "the tradition of welcoming back former residents and alumni of an institution". Indonesia is not President Obama's home. He was not born there and he only lived there for four years. So, what do others think? Should President Obama trip to Indonesia be reported as a homecoming?
