One of President Obama’s top economic advisers, Paul Volcker, said yesterday that he sees no relief for the unemployed in the short term. He also said that the US economy will grow only slowly for the next year or so. For the millions of Americans who are unemployed, things are looking bleak, particularly for the two million or so who could lose their unemployment benefits before Christmas if Congress does not vote to extend them. A new comic book by Erich Origen and Gan Golan, called The Adventures of Unemployed Man satirizes the current economic crisis and its heroes and villains. Origen and Golan are the authors of the best-selling Goodnight Bush, based on a popular children’s book. Goodnight Bush was published in the last few months of the Bush Administration and helped Americans close an ugly chapter in US history.
