with such intensity. I mean call him out when he is wrong. But I don't see him railing against these minions that just took over the house with a toxic agenda.

3. He did that up until about a month before the election then he
started haranguing, asking about why people wouldn't support the Dems. What Ed does is beyond criticism, and so does that Cenk person. Neither one of them has anything constructive to offer and actively go about tearing everything down in a way that gives the RW machine fodder.

14. I agree with both Cenk and Ed. And they are both more constructive than either the Prez
or the Apologia. When something is wrong fix it. Instead, the Prez solution is to be even MORE bipartisan. What was that definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Yeah, like that worked so well. Gimme a break. We lost some very good folks this last cycle and is wasn't because they didn't support the Prez..

and I watched as they tried to mobilize the base when they were the ones who ran them away.

I listened to him on the radio today as he said on the radio what he is saying on tv.

I listened I believe many of his callers were teabaggers who were glad to put the President down and said they wouldn't be voting for the President..

The blame that is.

The President is responsible for garnering support for his own agenda, but Obama doled out responsibilty to Reid and Pelosi, and the bill got watered down to nothing.

39. They were history anyway.
My view is that they did what they "thought" their constituents wanted, but what their constitutents really wanted was access to affordable health care.
But Lincoln and Spector are too removed from what their constituents wanted, spent too much time in Washington to see that arguing against it was the 3rd rail for them.

26. The President was behind Baucus. Ed was not giving the Republicans their talking points.
Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 06:30 PM by laughingliberal
Lobbyists for both the drug and hospital industries say that, as early as June, White House officials directed them to work out cost-saving deals with Mr. Baucus’s committee.

Drug industry lobbyists said they negotiated a deal to contribute $80 billion over 10 years toward the cost of an overhaul with Mr. Baucus, under White House supervision, before taking it to the president for final approval. House lawmakers have said they were caught by surprise when it was announced.

Hospital industry lobbyists, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of alienating the White House, say they negotiated their $155 billion in concessions with Mr. Baucus and the administration in tandem. House staff members were present, including for at least one White House meeting, but their role was peripheral, the lobbyists said.

Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 06:50 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
One minute, they're all praise and accolades for Obama and/or Dems. The next minute, they are taking him/them to the woodshed.

As most of us--not ALL of us here at DU--we want Obama/the Dems to succeed. That's what most of the frustration is about. Unlike many of the PUMAs and those on the Right, they want Obama to fail. Thank God most of us are not supporting that notion.

I'm so tired of that bullshit being pushed.

The thing I hate about Schultz railing against Obama is that it's just a circular firing squad. There are plenty of right wing lunatic Republicans to attack...but it's always the President and the "PUMA's" fault in some people's mind.

commenting about how ambivalent he feels. On the one hand, he's disappointed with the president; while, on the other hand, he wants him to succeed.

I believe I'm on the same page as he and Ed are on. While I'm frustrated with Obama/Dems at their capitulation to the Right; on the other hand, I want to back this president to end because the alternative is simply unacceptable!

29. Ed has forgotten his position
certainly it is one thing to give the president his insight but it is another to attack him to get his attention. Ed is confused on the fact that he needs to try and get the message to the white house but to bash them is only forcing them to ignore him. He is also one that needs to be rallying the viewers and listeners to get active since so many sat out the last election and not give more reason to sit it out the next election. It isn't easy to do but Ed and all our voices in the media should remember they can help turn off the electrate as well.

I'm pointing out when i tune in to ed's show, he's often bashing the pres. If I tune into hannity's show, same thing. the difference is, hannity's preaching to his usual choir, people that drink his kool aid already and who's mind's are made up. With ed, though, he's preaching to OUR choir, our side, for the most part, of the political spectrum. Why do we need one of "ours" doing hannity's job for him? Hannity, beck, etc.. aren't gonna change many minds by preaching their hate to their ditto-heads-they've already bought in. I just don't see why we need to bring his point of view to our side.

Ed's been around for a while, but maybe he's taking this loss personally. He's doing that Robert Kennedy thing of looking at the things that might have been and asking "Why not?"

I like the president, but I'll bet a President Joe Biden wouldn't have lost the House. Never mind. Change is slow, but the moral arch of the universe bends toward justice. We're a better country for the stuff Obama has accomplished in the past two years. And I'm convinced he isn't done yet.
