In the 1980s the world figured out how to stop inflation: you up interest rates
and cause a mild recession in the stock market and an overheated economy slows down. But the rich had to endure a slow stock market and some actual losses. Are the rich ceos purposely keeping up a 'jobless recovery' so that the stock market will run on and on even though the baby boomers will start to retire in 2014? Is this jobless world the new normal? And what can we do about it?

1. In all honesty
I beleave we should be working towards a world where no one has to work, a star trek like world. But we are not technologly advanced enough for that yet. Companies are making record profits with there current workforce, whats the incentive of hiring more workers? Thats horrible, but thats the way they are looking at it, we have to get rid of this notion that profit is the most important thing in the world.

3. Yup. I watch the Lang & Oleary Exchange on CBC News Network every day. The CEO always goes on and
on about profit and how it is king. Well it is king for you buddy but not what societies should be built on. There should be higher goals like the welfare of all peoples and shared good works.

2. We can get election reform and vote in progressives.
We have a lot in common with teabaggers as working class people. If we could turn them away from the right wing noise machine we may get some allies.

4. What can we do about it? Nothing.
Wealth has been grossly redistributed since then.

Rates are hovering barely above 0%, now.

Any attempt to drastically change this would be met with a bulldozer.
