GOP Congressman: I Have ‘ NO Hesitation Whatsoever ’ In PROBING BUSH For TORTURE
<>

:applause::applause::applause::applause::applause:

You go Congressman!!

" A newly elected Republican congressman said in a little-noticed interview Tuesday he'd have "no hesitation whatsoever" in beginning an investigation of the former President George W. Bush for torture.

Appearing on MSNBC's The Dylan Rattigan show, GOP Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), who also serves on the House Government Oversight Committee, said he'd be more than willing to join a torture probe.

"How far back do you think is appropriate?" Rattigan asked. "Because the one thing that’s not on this list is for instance a torture investigation."

"Well, it may be on the list as well," Chaffetz said. "I’m not afraid of going after the Bush administration. I wasn’t brought here by the establishment.

"When I ran for congressman in 2008 -- I’m just a freshman here, George W. Bush, Orrin Hatch, and Bob Bennett, three Republicans, they campaigned against me," Chaffetz added. "So I don’t mind going back and looking at ‘em. So I don’t have any hestitation whatsoever."

Jerrold Nadler: Bring on George W. Bush probe

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday said a full, independent investigation is needed to ensure "full accountability for the criminal use of torture."

“I am outraged by President Bush’s own admission in his newly released memoir that he personally authorized the use of waterboarding on detainees while in office. This admission, delivered without remorse or regret, reminds us disturbingly of the persistent lack of accountability and resolution in confronting the crime of torture committed by our own government," Nadler said in a statement. "The only way forward is to appoint a special prosecutor with a broad mission to investigate and, if warranted, prosecute these known cases of torture."

Nadler has demanded a special prosecutor to investigate the Bush administration's wartime policies on multiple occasions, including a formal request made with John Conyers of Michigan in August 2009. At the time, Nadler urged President Barack Obama not to pressure Holder to lay off launching such an investigation.

8. On the surface, sounds like he's been harboring a chip against those who
campaigned against him back in the 2008 elections. We'll see if his current position translates into actions or changes in the near future. Revenge is such sweet sorrow.

2. No probe necessary, the POS admitted he tortured
Just grab his ass off his fake book tour and throw him in jail.

But maybe he could be probed - by aliens.

5. Yep...That Due Process Thing Is Such A Waste
Any investigation into the criminal activities of the boooosh cabal is welcome and could be an "learning" experience. While I agree he's a war criminal, I also believe in a thorough investigation and, if warranted, a trial by jury. I think Chavez is talking smack...he knows there's little real support for a true investigation of the past regime's crimes.

23. Lets start investigating the smaller fish. I'm sure deals will be cut to save their own guilty hides
in exchange for evidentiary cooperation. All roads lead to the BIG TUNA.

25. The Little Fish Have Been Bought
Too many of the slime are hiding under the radar waiting for their next "assignment" if and when the rushpublicans ever take back the White House. They're in the stink...err think tanks and other parts of the GOTB corporate welfare system and won't rat on the big tunas unless compelled to.

The place I think this matter has always belonged is in the World Court...it's far beyond what our corrupt political system can handle.

22. Here is a detailed investigative profile of the congressman
by The Washington City Paper. Is he full of shit?..Maybe. He needs to be called out publicly on his current statement and asked if he is willing to formally request a ' criminal waterboarding ' investigation ' by the former president and company?

19. i was thinking last evening that Obama should have the attorney general begin a probe
with a grid locked congress..lots of people would be distracted as they are implicated in war profiteering..war crimes..including some congress people..if there ever was a time to do it, now would be the time..

28. Its NOT praising, its calling him out on his political grandstanding rhetoric. He
should be dogged and pressed to expand further ( in greater detail ) the extent of his ' Bush water-boarding probe ' statements. Lets see if he assumes the bend-over position ( like a loyal repuke) and resorts to using their ad nauseum talking point line that he was ' Misquoted or taken out of context '.

32. While I don't trust any Republicans...
this guy could just have easily gave the stock Democratic "moving forward" answer. So I will harbor some faint hope that a Republican will do what a Democrat is afraid to.

Frankly if investigations start and classified documents are searched through, what will be uncovered will be a dark stain on our country for a long time, much darker than we already have. Look at it this way, this people were so criminal in their workings that they are willing to admit to a serious war crime in print for the whole world to see. I can only imagine what they were doing behind closed doors.

Investigations into the previous administrations wars would reveal war crimes, financial crimes, shady business dealings, and abuses of everything from the constitution to our soldiers to prisoners, to the American people and the people of the world. Thats why we will never see these investigations. And that is why they must take place.
