A Republican congressman hoping to chair the powerful House Energy Committee refers to the Bible and God on the issue of global warming.

Representative John Shimkus insists we shouldn't concerned about the planet being destroyed because God promised Noah it wouldn't happen again after the great flood.

Speaking before a House Energy Subcommittee on Energy and Environment hearing in March, 2009, Shimkus quoted Chapter 8, Verse 22 of the Book of Genesis.

He said: 'As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will never cease.'

Where in Genesis does it say that God created and wiped out Dinosaurs tens to hundreds of millions of years before Adam and Eve?

One other point, no one ever said that human magnified global warming climate change would destroy the "Earth," the planet will be just fine.

The scientists have said these accelerating, cataclysmic changes will create major catastrophe for humanity. Current human society didn't evolve with the same climate as that from the age of the dinosaurs.

These relatively rapid, human magnified disruptions will send vast numbers of species to extinction and hundreds of millions if not billions of people will die as a result.

Furthermore if you truly believe that God instructed Noah to go through the trouble of saving every species, why on Earth would you support destroying them through our short sighted, greed based actions? It seems to me that if you're willing to gamble with the lives of countless species for pursuit of the almighty dollar, you're defying the will of God.
